Fluro-Highlighter 7/31/11 . chapter 1
This is absolutely beautiful! I can't believe I haven't come across this before. You write so well and you truly captured the characters perfectly. I wish there had been more sentimental scenes like this in the show, oh wells. Once again great job!

You have built it, and you have invited me, and so I have come. :)

Surely, DJaq must be the only (or among the very few) characters who in this moment would have not just stepped over his body, but stopped to tend him. Her selection to be the one to encouter him is spot-on. (And I think I would argue, that had she encountered him armed and battle-ready, she *would* have taken his life.)

I like the cultural references very much (they help me rationalize reading fanfic-I'm learning something!), and the Sheriff is very much himself, here. Nice with that.

Unlike your other reviewers, though (prob. not coming from the same camp as them as far as 'shippings, etc. go), I take from Gisborne's promise to kill the Sheriff for Marian proof that he did not truly know her. Marian never wanted anybody killed. I would say, that for her, for Guy to leave the Sheriff's employ and NOT kill him, that would be what she would have applauded, that would be something she would have seen as a triumph, of his being a good man.

I like that DJaq claims she cannot see into his heart. And, like DJaq, I will never understand what he has done, but it would not be for me to take his life. (except in my own fanfiction...)

Thank you, Lady Kate!

Guy's grief as written by your hand is exquisite. I'm just in tears.

This just gets better and better with each reading. I hope you're proud of it - you ought to be! It's such a beautiful piece, and a great Missing Scene.

Absolutely fantastic! I could sooo see this happening, and Djaq is about the only one, other than maybe Allan (and he would have had to have calmed down first), who would not have just run him through. And I think the promise he makes is great... gives him more reason to do it, having given his word to someone else, as he is all about loyalty. Thanks!

This one will be on my favorites list, LadyKate! Such a great portrayal of Guy in all his tortured angst. You brought out the complexity of his character, as RA played him, not just as a cartoon baddie. I love these "behind the scenes" scenes. Best part for me? When he promised Djaq "there will come a day when I kill him. For her." Oh, gave me chills!

He and Djaq, and the Sheriff, totally believable and in character!

OH, this is near perfect. I've always thought there was a Guy/Djaq story to be written, and this is a very good beginning.

*hands over heart on a silver platter*

Seriously? Wow! LadyKate, you never cease to amaze. There is so much TRUTH in your works that I never once question anything that's written. Never. I smacked my kitchen table several times, thinking, "That is such a good line! What an insightful thought!" I loved it. LOVED IT! Even if it did make me cry.

Your characterization of Djaq and Guy were perfect. I have always loved Djaq's compassionate heart. And Guy, poor Guy... I read an article in which Richard Armitage explained that Guy was not trying to kill Marian, but the words that were coming out of her mouth. I loved the wording that you used to put that into this story.

BRA-VO! I cannot wait to see what plot bunnies you come up with next! :D

Definitely a scene I felt was missing from the show. :)

I love it when Guy apparently resigns himself to living for now. It just sounds a little pathetic and a lot sad.
