On another note, people have asked about Elven-magic. Tolkien *does* specifically say that Elves are magical, but their powers seem to vary; for example, Elrond can control the river in his valley, Galadriel can see the future, and so on.

This is a wonderful story! Why haven't you updated in so long?

My theory on this is that these house-elves are those who did not sail for Valinor after the death of Elessar. He and his line could protect the elves, but afterwards, men enslaved them, and turned them into these beings, much as Morgoth turned elves into orcs. The whomping Willow probably knows of elves from tales passed down from tree to tree. Her kind of Willow most likely comes from Fangorn Forest near Rohan, or quite possibly the Old Forest on the borders of Buckland (Old-Man Willow?)

And, as for how Legolas got to Hogwarts... well, Illuvatar would not forget his beloved firstborn, no matter how long ago they had forgotten him.

Please, if you are still interested in fanfiction, give us the next chapter in this story. I do recall that you promised to finish and would not abandon us.

No, you were right, the name of the star is Earendil.

Earendil was the father of Lord Elrond. In the first age, he built a ship and sailed for valinor, wanting to ask the Valar for help in the war against Morgoth. Then, Feanor's Sons attacked the elves in their search for the Silmaril. His wife, Earwing, was able to bring the jewel to him. Now, the star of Earendil is the actual Silmaril worn upon his brow in his ship in the sky.

Elendil was the father of Isildur, Aragorn's ancestor, and one of the last Kings of Gondor who was killed in the second age fighting Sauron at Mordor.

So tell your beta-reader she was right! (You can trust the Tolkienarnian on these things!)

Sigh. No, you were right the first time. Elendil is Isildur and Anarion's father. Earendil is Elrond and Elros's father who sails Vingilot across the skys. He has the Simaril bound upon his brow which is so bright that the elves call it a star. Call the star Earendil. If the star's real name is Elendil, which I don't think it is, but if it is, for goodness sakes! No one will know what you are saying. For example, if you were to talk about the Valacirya (or is it Valacirca?)I would know what you were talking about ...and you get the point.
