Buhh. More crying about a show I haven't even seen what is thiiiis. Love the repetition in the mantra Castiel repeats to himself. Everything is just so...sad. And regretful. Wahhh.

Amazing! This was so beautiful and powerfully moving! I could feel my heart breaking for Cas and I just wanted to hug him! Thank you for posting and I hope you continue writing in this fandom soon! :D

Wow. That was pure awesomeness - I could actually completely see this fit into an episode...let's petition the writers to have YOU write the episodes instead! :)

It's so beautiful, and so sad.

Poor Castiel. Sometimes, I want just to grab Dean's head and shake, to force him to see!
Mystique Aqua 3/29/11 . chapter 1
Oh wow... double wow... I'm simply at lost for words. This story is so touching and heartbreaking. I feel so sad for Cas coz he has to kill his brothers that are against him; poor Cas.

His feelings for humanity is not his greatest weakness though, rather it is his greatest strength. It is his motivation to keep going on... to keep on fighting. Knowing the feelings of joy, warmth and contentment when he is with Dean and Sam (especially with Dean) will be all worth it when it finally ends... hopefully soon so that he can spend more time with the boys. I so miss them being together.

By the way, loved how you described the war in heaven, simply amazing. I could never have imagined it like that.

Fantastic story _
Titan of Saturn 3/26/11 . chapter 1
Wow. Amazing. Thank you.
Meggin Lane 3/6/11 . chapter 1
Very powerful.

Your description of the battle was put into terms that I could see clearly:

"The sky is burning around him. He can feel the crackle of electric flames as celestial swords clash; he can hear the shrieks of wounded angels and see the too-bright flashes of their dying graces erupt outward, slamming the particles in the air and forcing atom after atom into heated collisions against one another. The explosions eat everything up until there is nothing left but trails of destruction as bright as the sun. Castiel remembers that the humans call this a nuclear reaction."

And Castiel's struggle to find strength by remembering why he fights this war was humbling.

"And with each life extinguished at the end of his sword, he invariably finds himself thinking back to the dimly lit motel room he had left behind just now, to Dean and Sam and what they each mean to him. There is some comfort there, even if it is his greatest weakness. Even if he knows weakness will not win this war.

There are billions of other people down on earth beyond just Dean and Sam as well, he realizes, people who could just as easily mean as much to someone else as Dean and Sam mean to him.

Castiel kills his brothers—lights the sky on fire with the white-hot sparks of their shrieking deaths—and remembers why he does this, what he is ruining himself for."

And yet he still does not see the truth, nor feel it really, because he still refers to it as his weakness. He has not seen yet that he was resurrected by god for this very reason, because he DOES treasure his human companions, finds them precious, and that they bring comfort to him when he is in their presence. THAT was why he was chosen to be their champion because he alone responds most like god to humanity. Who then better to rule in heaven in Michael's absence?

Wow, just wow. Deeply moving and passionate. You did an excellent job not only at capturing Castiel's personality, but the perspective of fighting a hopeless war on a global scale. It was depressing, but a little happy as well. Or maybe it was just about those little moments of respite when you need them the most.

Gah! Sorry, I'm feeling stupidly poetic. Amazing job regardless.

Wow. This is a great look at what's going on with Cas season six, and very believable. It's intense and just... altogether really good. Great job with this!
Sirius-Black-is-not-dead 3/4/11 . chapter 1
Poor Castiel, it really is a beautiful and heart-wrenching read. Good work.
Nancy T 3/4/11 . chapter 1
This isn't, in your word, "gross"; it is sad, strong, a deeply moving soldier metaphor, and a brilliant portrayal of what Castiel is going through while our guys are down on earth fighting monsters and being ticked off that he's not of more help. The descriptions of celestial war are simply amazing. This story is terrific by itself; but I really would love to see another where Castiel realizes that Sam and Dean would never reject and never disdain a fighter who killed because he had to protect innocents.
Sandra 3/4/11 . chapter 1
Amazing!

My heart breaks for Cas. Can we have a happier sequel? With Dean finding out how much Cas sacrificed for him?
