Dine89 3/14/11 . chapter 1Aw sweetie, that is such a wonderful and super sweet oneshot. I love it! It’s so nice to see some family fluff; you know that I can’t get enough of it. :D
I love the fact that Danny and Lindsay decided to look for a beautiful, little house. I mean it only makes sense, it’s a better place to grow up for Lucy, Danny’s parents live not too far away and Danny and Lindsay have enough room for another child. And now is the perfect time to move, Danny and Lindsay now that they can’t go back into their old apartment, not after what happened there. Every time they would step into Lucy’s room they would be reminded of that fateful night, where Shane Casey almost destroyed their little family. They just don’t feel home and comfortable anymore, which is more than understandable. I wouldn’t want to live in an apartment where Shane Casey died either. Right now they just want a new beginning and moving into a new apartment or house is the perfect start. So now they are just a few minutes away from visiting their possible new house and Lindsay remembers the moment where she and Danny talked about buying a house. “I wish we wouldn't have to do this,” Lindsay said as Danny spread the newspaper in front of them on Mac's coffee table. The large apartment was quiet; their boss had taken his beloved granddaughter for a little walk in the park so the couple had some time on their own. Some time to look for a new home. “I know,” Danny replied, nodding his head in agreement. “But would you rather like to go back?” Lindsay shuddered at just the thought of this. Since this one night around a month ago, neither of them had dared to get anywhere close to their old apartment building. Just thinking of what had happened in this apartment, which had been supposed to be the safest place for them, made the nightmares return. “The apartment was perfect,” she couldn't help but say then. “It was a bit small, but it was right in the heart of Manhattan, and it wasn't even that expensive for such a location. We had such a great time there.”-“Doesn't mean we can't have a great time anywhere else,” he answered. Lindsay raised her eyebrows lightly at his words. “Why do you act as if you don't mind that we can't go back?”
That’s definitely not what Danny wanted to say. For both of them it’s not easy to leave their first shared apartment behind, after all it has sentimental value. And now they have to leave all that behind, because some sicko made it impossible for them to live there. But compared to Lindsay Danny doesn’t like think or talk about it. For him it seems to be easier pushing the memories of that night aside. For him it’s just as hard to leave their apartment as it is for Lindsay, he just doesn’t like to think about it. “I just don't want to think about it too much,” he admitted. “We can't stay here, it's too small for all of us. We're staying at Mac's apartment for a whole month already; we have to look for something new. Yeah, it hurts that we had to move because of what happened. But I don't want to ruin all those good memories with this bad one. It's not worth it. Plus...well, I'm just glad we're all fine, you know? I'm glad we can move into a new place and have a great time there as well.” Lindsay understood what he wanted to tell her, he didn't need to explain himself more. She agreed with Danny of course, and she had to admit his way to think wasn't that bad either. After all he was right. They shouldn't ruin those good memories with a bad one. “Should be difficult to find a new place though. One that is big enough and not too expensive.” She sighed. “I remember how hard it was to find my first apartment.” He nodded. “I know what you mean.” Then he paused. “Did you ever consider moving into a house?”-“A house?” Lindsay looked at him in surprise. “I doubt there are that many houses in Manhattan, and I thought you want to stay here now that you managed to escape Staten Island.”-“I didn't want to escape it,” Danny replied and to her surprise, his cheeks flushed softly. “When I was younger, I often felt like the uncool kid from Staten Island who will always stay small. I thought I'd count to the awesome ones if I had a great apartment in Manhattan, and somehow that wish stayed with me.”
I’m glad that Danny opens up to Lindsay and tells her why he doesn’t mind moving as much as Lindsay does. Sure he doesn’t like it either, but he wants to concentrate on staying positive and on the good things which are about to come. He knows that they will make some new wonderful memories in their new home and that they will have more space as well, which is not a bad thing when they will expand their family. Oh and I love that Danny tells Lindsay about his first apartment and why he wanted to live in Manhattan so much. It’s always nice to hear more about Danny’s and Lindsay’s past, so I love it that you filled in some of the blanks. :D Also it’s nice always nice to hear how happy he is, he loves being a husband and father. It’s wonderful that he’s so content with his life, he wouldn’t change a thing. It’s amazing how much he has changed over the years, he has so grown up, I love that! And so he’s looking forward to move into a house and planning his future with Lindsay. Now he just needs to know what Lindsay thinks about it. “What do you say?” Danny asked, wrapping an arm around Lindsay's shoulders. They had sat down on a bench in the backyard of their potential new house. The house wasn't big, it was located in a quiet street on Staten Island, only a couple of minutes away from his parents' house. “I think it's great,” Lindsay answered. “It's bigger than an apartment, but not too huge. The prize is fantastic as well. So is the location, and the school isn't far away either.” Danny nodded. “Yeah, those are the facts. But what do you think?” Lindsay gave him a questioning look. “What do you mean?”-“I want to know what you think. What you feel, you know?” he explained. “Could you see this as our new home?”
I hope she does, this house seems to be perfect. Lucy can play in the garden or even out on the street, since the neighborhood is way better than in Manhattan and Danny’s parents lives just a couple of minutes away, so they can spend more time with Danny, Lindsay and Lucy. It’s a win – win situation for everyone. It’s cute how Lindsay wants to hear Danny’s opinion before she answers his questions if she likes the house or not. She wants to hear that he likes the house, before she tells him that she loves it as well. I think she fears that he would agree buying this house only to make her happy, even if he doesn’t like it. She just wants to make sure he loves it as well. But her worries are completely unnecessary, Danny does love this house. “You wanna know what I'm thinking? When I imagine this as our house, I see Lucy playing in her room, or chasing down the stairs because dinner is ready. I see us planting plants, you telling all your Montana stories while Lucy gets all excited because she help. I see our families and friends coming over, celebrating with us in that large living room. I see us in our bedroom, having some fun there. Or making more babies.” He winked at her. “You wish,” Lindsay replied, winking back at him playfully. Danny grinned before he cringed playfully as he said, “I can also see Lucy sneaking upstairs with her first boyfriend, and me wanting to chase after him while you try to hold me back.” She laughed. “You're crazy.”-“Maybe,” he answered with another wink. “I can also see us sitting out here on this bench while everyone we love is enjoying our party in the backyard. Why do we party? Maybe just for fun, or because of our birthdays, or because our daughter got married. I could also see us sitting here while we watch our kids playing around here, or our grandchildren.”
Aw… that is so sweet, beautiful and romantic. I totally love what Danny thinks about when he’s looking at their new house, I want to see all of that as well. His comment about having fun in the bedroom was my favorite though; I knew he would make such a comment, he always does. Oh and his image of Lucy sneaking upstairs with her boyfriend cracked me up, you know you really should do an oneshot about that. :D This house is perfect for them, so I’m glad that Lindsay feels the same way about it. They will be really happy living there, I’m glad they found this house.
I know I keep repeating myself over and over again, but I can’t wait for more sweet family oneshots, they’re so awesome. :D |
