This chapter, kind of like all the other chapters you've written for the Psychverse, was really well done. The characterizations of Henry and Lassiter are just... Epic.
I like how Henry is torn between his confusion over the 'odd Lassie' behavior and his paternal worry over Shawn. You've done a really good job at showing that he isn't missing signs because he's oblivious, but because he has bigger fish to fry. At the same time, he's picking up way more than Lassiter wants him too... The balance in the dynamic is skillfully done.
Just in case you haven't heard it yet, you are an amazing author. I'm looking forward to the next chapter!

I love the interplay between Lassiter and Henry. Two very stubborn, bull-headed personalities clashing against one another. LOVE IT! The dialogue is (as per your usual) spot on with characterization. Both men have a tendency to speak before they think and this chapter portrays that perfectly. Henry reacted.. fueled by his anger/fear/worry over Shawn. Lassiter was simply a perfect outlet for Henry's ire.
"It never paid off to run headlong into any situation with absolutely no detailed plan; Lassiter frowned bitterly. But here, he'd had a plan, had good intentions, all of which had backfired on him. The one time he'd tried it Spencer's way he'd been publicly shamed for weeks, his sanity had been in question, O'Hara had threatened to shoot him in the face a couple of times, and Spencer and Guster had ended up with the glory anyway."(...)
HA! This is the pure Lassiter; through & through. It always seems to be a "lose-lose" scenario for him. Poor guy can't seem to catch a break, now can he?
I can't wait to see where this story goes from here! Eagerly awaiting Chapter 4!
Ooo. WOW! Terrific chapter. A fumbling Lassiter, an angry/concerned Henry, and a garbled call from Shawn. Ooo.. plot thickens.
"Henry flicked his eyes in Lassiter's direction and held up a finger—surprisingly, not the middle one. Still, Lassiter kicked at the driveway, ignoring how Henry blurred into two, then three, versions of himself for a second. All of them had a phone to his ear, all wore that particular tautness around the eyes and mouth, all were throwing his voice into thicker territory, as if preparing to steer off wildly in one emotional direction or another. Carlton realized when he heard Henry's voice that the man was again whole, jittered back into just one body. Lassiter blinked a few times just to make sure he could see straight."
Ooo. I love how you set-up this scene. It offers perfect balance of subtle observations mixed.. co-mingled.. with Lassiter's probable fever and (perhaps?) over-indulgence with cold meds.
And you definitely have to feel for Henry in this chapter. How the man manages to maintain a safe/acceptable blood pressure with Shawn around is beyond me.
Life has finally allowed me a moment of respite after an incredibly chaotic handful of months, and happily, I stumbled upon this wonderful gem! :)
WAHOO! I'm thrilled to see that you're writing a Henry & Lassiter centric fic. Two of my favorite characters that receive far too little attention. With angst and illness to boot! (LOVING IT!)

"It hurt like repeated, ruthless kicks to the groin." Ah! Such a great line.. and So true! Despite all of Lassiter's tough-guy, head detective posturings, he was vulnerable when it came to Victoria (his great love). And divorce proceedings (no matter the terms) would definitely hit him hard, below the belt. Rattle him... as always, your characterizations are spot on. Marvelous!
And forced to seek out support and advice from Henry Spencer.. despite not wanting to... love it! pure awesome!

amazing chapter! (sorry, im a little behind and not yet exactly caught up to date) you definitely have me patiently... *coughcough* ehh... . maybe not so patiently, awaiting the new installment. i love the lassie-henry interaction! its really good and perfectly captures the relationship the two have. its just as good as the tv show! It all seems so “realistic”. Its amazing!

Ahhhh! I don't know whether to slap Henry or to hug him for bringing so much Lassiter angst to this chapter. I suppose I could do both ;)
Another wonderful chapter. I'm loving the pace, setting up of the plot, Lassiter's illness . . . loved Henry's reaction. It was just like him, so in character, and Lassiter, after that argument, still not willing to admit why he'd come to Henry.
I'm loving it and am looking forward to the next update!
