Hyphens are not the proper way to denote speech. You need to use quotation marks. I know it may be different where you are from, but this site is hosted in America so if you're writing in English, you should use the punctuation/grammar rules we teach in school (I say this because most Americans don't do it in everyday conversation). It's technically a rule-violation, so if you don't fix it I'm going to have to report you.
