InoSaku4ever 3/1/13 . chapter 27Wow this fic is amazing, I am sad that you didn't finish it but happy your not abandoning the story just rebuilding it. I thought that this story was wonderful and one of the best fics I've read on pmmm(puella magi Madoka magica). U deserve a reward for having patience with this story by making it as detailed as possible *claps really loud* an excellent job you've done so far! Well done! I will be looking forward to that fic! |
Phantom of the Fiction 2/22/13 . chapter 27I remember finding this story earlier, but how did I not story watch it?! Damn, I wish you luck on this rebuild, cuz the epic ness is going to be pretty hard to imagine. |
Broth3r 2/16/13 . chapter 26I know the feeling, bro. Every time I look at the start of my first story in FFN, I roll my eyes. That’s a big part of the reason why I started this, instead of finishing Against Destiny (I WILL do it, however). It’s almost painful. But I regret nothing, and I say that with the most theatrical and honest voice I have. And I don’t know if you do, but you shouldn’t. For all its flaws, MMVP was stupidly, crazily, and hilariously awesome - and no, not just in crack. If you feel like you need to improve, you should, but don’t dare losing that touch. Or I’ll deliver a bucket of LCL right to your door tomorrow. And I want to see that first chapter on my screen pretty soon. Or else. But until then, I’ll avenge you, you crazy bastard. |
pi 2/2/13 . chapter 26 thanks for letting us know. your an awesome writer :) |
Psykoakuma 1/31/13 . chapter 27Wow! Crazy that you're abandoning the story like this. I completely believe your motivation though. I don't think there are many authors who would easily give up on a fic after it became so popular. I'm pretty sure lots of people would love to have such a nice following. You must really be unhappy with how it turned out. |
Master DV 1/31/13 . chapter 27Eh, I loved this story morde so don't be to hard on yourself. The thing about writers is that we love our work but we hate what we create. Its something about us that makes us continually grow and improve as a writer. Reading ANYTHING you wrote in the past is going to cause you rage because as you improve as a writer you also are able to see more flaws in your past works. Its natural to feel like you did so don't beat yourself up over it. On that note I would offer to beta read your stuff, I work on my own writing but I've been in a slump as of late and this could help me revitalize myself by doing some editing. I can adjust to any schedule you have and I have been told that I am a calm and level headed person. So if you would like; I would be honored to be your beta. |
DayDreamer9 1/30/13 . chapter 26Do whatever it is that makes you feel comfortable; I will stand by you no matter what. Besides (morbid as I am), I'm curious to see this new version of MMVP and what'll happen this time around. They say that you need to love what you write and, if you don't love the original, then it's time for a rehall. |
Anonymous 1/30/13 . chapter 6 Stop namedropping tropes. It's fucking cringeworthy. |
webidolchiu94 1/30/13 . chapter 26Well, I'm sure you're right. I would've accepted that previous ending, but hey you're the author. I have a similar problem for my Madoka story, actually. Endings can be...problematic. (My story has too many plot threads, and I get tangled in them...) Still, I am awaiting the next chapter. High School is rough. I just finished too, last May. ...I wish I could give some criticism myself, but I'm too lenient at times. I for one liked the original, but I will enjoy rereading it to see the changes. Write on! |
Triser 1/30/13 . chapter 26It happens, I like the idea behind this, and I do like what you have planned with the rebuild. I'll read the new version. |
dragonblack 1/30/13 . chapter 26Thanks for giving us this update, good to know what is happening up ins. (also your an was...Funny. What the fuck even, dude. I enjoyed reading that AN.) You have improved markedly through the course of this think, if you think you can't end the story as it stands, then by all means, re-write-away. It is admirable that you are not willing to settle. But, still. Feel free to keep us posted! Start a tumbr or something, we'll all (allme) read it. |
Alex Warlorn 1/30/13 . chapter 26:-( I'm sorry. I honestly feel like my ideas and suggestions only helped murder this beautiful piece of art. |
AKAAkira 1/30/13 . chapter 26Gack - just realized I wasn't logged on when I submitted my last review. In case you wanted a name for that long-winded preaching, it's AKAAkira. |
Guest 1/30/13 . chapter 26 Ouch. Well, that's a shame. I can definitely understand the need to write a chapter as perfectly as possible...though I suppose my own standards and quality isn't as high as yours yet. When the words won't come out, or even if they do, they don't *sound* right, or even if they do sound right, they're just not *interesting* enough, that really feels like the time to leave the computer, have a snack, maybe watch some TV, before settling back...only to start the staring contest with the screen again. God only knows how many times I've done this in a week. But there is one thing that - though I'm probably not in a position to preach - I want to say. For authors, quality is paramount - but I don't think I'm mistaken when I claim that the majority of readers are only looking for entertainment. There's no feeling worse than releasing a new chapter KNOWING it should be better, I agree with that! But do you honestly think the - so far - 201 favourites this story has, third highest out of the ENTIRETY of the PMMM section, is a fluke? People honestly enjoyed this story, notwithstanding the mistakes all over the place that you see and that I can, maybe, search out. The people who made it to this chapter are the people who liked the last 25 chapters. That's a lot of expectation to let down. Can you, objectively, weigh the disappointment of an audience against a personal sense of failure? Quality *can* be compromised on. At the expense of going further into preaching territory - that's just life. Perfectionism is ideal. Unfortunately, it's not always realistic - some even say it's unhealthy. I don't see anything wrong with posting the final chapter for the mere sake of completion. I believe, in fiction, there's a line on quality that you can make named "Good Enough" - and at the same time I also believe your story's way over that line. It's not like you couldn't have expressed the same disappointment in quality and resolve to remake the whole thing AFTER posting the final chapter, I think. At the very least, it would've made a lot of people legitimately happy, which is what I ask for. So long as you KNOW where and what you can improve, I don't think there's any shame in indulging the crowd. And if it's the critics you want to appeal to, you *are* still going to make an even better version later on - right? (Though I think you should at least remove the "Completed" tag. It wouldn't do for any new readers to get started on this story, honestly thinking it has a conclusion, and then run into this chapter.) |
DappledKarma 1/30/13 . chapter 26My heart skipped a beat. And then a strange depression came. Then warm happiness. Good to hear you're doing okay. I'm very excited and interested in this Rebuild of Veneficus. I would say it's a shame you didn't finish the original, but the changes you plan for the rewrite are way too awesome to feel down! I wish you the best of luck with it. Forever a fan. |
