This fic was just brilliant in all accords! Starting off with the fairytale being read to Melanie, and showing us the morals that her mother taught her as a child with regards to men and being treated as the "Queen" ought to be, was very well depicted. Gotta just love Queen-dearest for her "uplifting" words...yeah right lol.

Even though little Jimmy was an OC, I still felt bad for the poor boy giving her the flowers that she so dearly appreciated, and then having her leave right after a wonderful gesture was made. I really don't know what Queen expected a 13 year old to shower Melanie with, but my word is that woman a wi-atch! Having the family use Melanie like that for their own profit was as horrid as it was believable. I like how Jack comforted her after her ordeal, in the silent big brother way he knows best.

And finally, that scene with Terry. Gosh I can never get tired of mentioning how much I adore reading the way you write their interactions! Their respective lines, "The King lives for his Queen" and "The Queen lives because of her King" was sheer brilliance and romance all tied sweetly together! I loved the card with the rose, gosh that was utterly romantic! I loved this story on a whole, excellent job as always!

I eagerly await the next time inspiration takes you Terry/Melanie land! Love, love, love your stories girl :D

i felt...omg! How could parents ever put their kids in that position of melanie? They let that awful person just rape their daughter and they celebrating! They should burn in hell! I was upset to have to read that part! But at the end melanie got what she really deserves...love. And someone who truly loves her like she loves him! If i read this again it will only be the last half of the story. I don't think my heart could go thru the beginning again. But it's still a good story. Anything that has melanie and terry getting or ending up together are the greatest stories ever!

I love how you give background and I just love how fluid your writing style is. Gosh, V, I'm fed up of saying this: I love your work.

You know how to work with bittersweet and you know how to work a relationship to highlight the absolute purity and truth of it. He says some things that a more wounded and less secure woman would find painful, even coming from her so-called lover, the love of her life. But with Melanie and Terry, they're so comfortable with each other, they feel so safe and they're so sure of each other, sure that the best and most secure place for them is in each other's arms, that Terry is able to make reference to all those false and horrible things of her past and it no longer does so much as scathe her. She is so happy with him that her past can't hurt her anymore. He has healed her and made her feel whole again. Your way of portraying that is something to be very appreciated.

Great work as always. Experience experienced; ergo, you're doing your job as a writer.

First time I've read a Batman Beyond fic in a LONG time. And very first time reading a Melanie-centric fic.

...It was a good experience. Angsty, but with that satisfyingly happy ending that gives you a warm ache somewhere mid-chest.

You wrote it wonderfully, too. A little on the "flowery" side - lots of descriptive details - but not so much as to feel like I'm sifting through mountains of words to get to the meaning; you had a pretty good balance going on.

Overall, a great read. A perfect note to go to bed on. (3:08am)
