And this is why I love these two so damn much!
I never really liked Helen, but then when I first watched this show I was thirteen and I was desperate for them (Lynley and Havers) to get together. Now, as a twenty-one year old and thinking back over the series which I haven't watched in way too long, I can now say I don't mind her character, but I still love Lynley/Havers. They just... get each other, which you portrayed here brilliantly. If they can never be together, I'm just happy they can be rocks for each other.
