I'll admit the monster snacking on Sam's lower extremities did make me cringe just a bit.

I knew that Dean would find Sam, but I was worried for a moment. I love how Dean found the strength to carry Sam back to the Impala and Sam's reaction to being back with the Impala. 'Panic flared but then he heard the familiar sound of a door squeaking and Sam relaxed. He was safe. He was home...'

Dean's answer to the doctor on how he did it was excellent! 'Dean's body ached, his muscles still burned with fatigue, but when he glanced at the guy, he just shrugged and said, "I'm his brother." There was nothing else to say.'

The poetic verse structure and the metaphorical phrasing really set the tone and conveyed Sam's pain and disorientation (not to mention, some beautiful wording!).

All the Sammy hurt was there - but awesome big brother Dean as well, and the perfect (and I do mean perfect) ending.

Great short story, loved the descriptions. OMG Sam was a supernatural creature snack! And loved that when he was slipping away his brother's voice kept him there. Could so imagine in my head Dean struggling to carry Sam back to the car, and get him to a hospital, and determination to save Sam the only thing keeping him going.

Like your pacing great story.
