Jen 6/27/12 . chapter 31 I've been really enjoying this story. You really have portrayed the characters as they really were, (mannerisms, how they would speak, etc.) And I could not agree more about the Brenda/Tony prom date. I hated that the writers did that. I would have absolutely had her go with some random guy over Tony- never liked him. Anyway, great job on this story! |
PrueAndyForever 3/21/12 . chapter 37Hey. So, I got around to reading a few more chapters, or maybe a little more than that, lol. I did receive your most recent PM and I'm glad that you appreciated the feedback. While I delve into some more of that right now, let me begin by stating that I think you did a decent job with integrating the foundation of the senior prom episode (ie. pre-prom at Mel's place, the prom pictures etc. etc.) and mixing in your own ideas which gave us an alternate 'BH90210' reality, a different twist on a senior prom episode. I think it passed off very much like an episode could have. Okay, one critique? LOL - actually, to make it clear, it has more to do with my own personal views regarding a character rather than your writing here. David Silver. I didn't mind the character so much in the beginning of the series; however, as the seasons continued to progress - I couldn't bring myself to really respect the character or like him all that much. It started with his treatment of Scott and with David distancing himself more and more in order to become more accepted by the popular gang (although, not always so obvious or downright rude about it). He always came across pretty self-centered to me and disrespectful when it came to Donna and her beliefs regarding 'no sex before marriage' and I always knew that I would have respected him alot more had he just broken up with her if the two could never see eye to eye on the issue. I'm only broaching the subject since this material was addressed in your story. Granted, all the characters at some point did deal with the issues of 'sex' regarding their respective relationships but it was easier for me to sympathize with Donna since I hold her views. Brenda even felt pressured a bit by Dylan at some point during S1; however, I think what always bothered me more about David and Donna is that Donna had made her position very clear: no sex before marriage. Brenda, on the other hand, never outright said 'no' to it in her relationship - it was more a matter of right 'timing" between her and Dylan. Of course, lol, I eventually lost respect for the writing of Donna's character as well because the writers eventually made the whole principled 'virginity/no sex before marriage' plot point moot when they had her give in to premarital sex anyway seasons later. What also bothered me is I never respected David having the honor of being her first after all that peer pressure and then his unfaithfulness with Ariel back in S4. I noticed that David had a tendency to be that way in any relationship he tried to pursue: It was about him and whether or not he was getting 'any.' I had a hard time grasping any relationship of his going any deeper than that. However, inside your story, I'm glad that you had Scott attempt to be the 'voice of reason/conscience' for David, to be the one to tell him that he would have to respect whatever decision Donna made and have a good time in spite of that. Back to more about the chapters: I was very happy to note that Dylan 'sucked it up', for lack of a better description lol, and ended up going to the senior prom. I'm sure he had to bite his pride in order to do so but in the end, I think it was the right decision. Granted, it started out on a sour note, the scene between he and Kelly was awkward but I think mostly everyone was glad to see him there, especially Brenda. Even Scott, who cares very much about Brenda, knew that it would be weighing on her mind that night. Scott, too, cared since Dylan was there for him when he really needed the help. It was nice bringing Brittany back in at the prom and then Dylan apologizing to her was good. I'm glad that he did and I thought it was cute that he tried to get Scott and Brittany better acquainted like that, lol. Wonder if that is going anywhere? Scott deserves some happiness with someone too. Donna getting 'drunk' or 'plastered' you gave us a different angle to that story, which was reading a first hand account of Gil Meyers, some of the gang, and Donna having to confront the Martins and face the consequences due to her drinking. That was interesting - the show never really did that, we just got to see the after effects or consequences that resulted from that night. BD: First off, YAY, they decided to give their relationship another chance, lol. I'm sure that Brenda has her doubts and hopefully in time, she will feel secure in a romantic relationship with Dylan again. I enjoyed their scenes very much, with them talking and Brenda being honest about where she was coming from. I know Dylan thought she was going to say 'no' to giving him a second chance but it was at least refreshing to see him acknowledging how badly he really had screwed up and feeling the potential that was there to have to face the very real consequences that he could have lost something very important and meaningful forever: his relationship with Brenda. Also, it's important to note how very sweet, selfless, and supportive Scott has been in all of this. He could have taken up Brenda's invitation to be the one to go for the walk on the beach that night, yet, he's been very observant with reading the 'signs' between Dylan and Brenda. Without planning it, he did turn out to be a side-line matchmaker for the two when he suggested that Brenda invite Dylan instead of him. Scott's a very good friend, not just to Brenda, but to Dylan too. Alright, lol, I'll leave it off right there for now. Looking forward to more as I move towards the end of this story. It's been a very entertaining ride. Heather |
PrueAndyForever 3/19/12 . chapter 31Hey there. I realize it's been awhile, my apologies on that, but real life has taken over, not leaving with with all the free time I used to have that allowed me to engage in a couple of my favorite pasttimes - reading and writing fanfiction. However, I would like to let you know that I did recently receive/read your messages to me and would like to thank you for expressing your gratitude and appreciation regarding my reviews. Lol - I'm catching up slowly with the rest of your story and I was happy to find out from you that you have written a sequel for this story and that it's also BD-centered. I will be excited to finally get to that but first thing is obviously fist: finishing out this good work first. I've read a couple more of the chapters, I had a pretty decent idea on where I had left off and reread that first, just to familiarize myself with the details once again. Excellent work of course, and I didn't think the Tony Miller inclusion was over the top at all, he defintitely had what was coming to him as a character and I think you had it play out in a pretty creative way. There were always some lighter or comical moments included among all the heavy BH90210 drama and angst and I can picture those scenes of Tony Miller running out into the school halls, only clad in underwear, playing out just that way, LOL. It's also nice to see that Scott has been able to develop more as a character, his confidence level has piqued alot more, and not only that - the events of this story allowed some of our regular series characters to truly see/learn who Scott was as a person and then to be able to embrace him as a true friend. He is feeling like one of the gang. It's no secret that I have never been a Kelly Taylor fan; however, I was even happy to note that she finally came around and was able to self evaluate how she had been acting badly, isolating her own friends, and even she came around to seeing Scott for who he really was. For the record, the prank on Tony Miller was 'win!' LMAO. BD - LOL, I know you know I'm a big fan of theirs, but I will say and reiterate again, great job on the pacing and build up for them here. Of course, as a fan, I would like to see them together already, but that would kill the entire journey. I love Dylan's inner workings, the way he thinks and holds back, you right him very much in character. Brenda as well - she knows him and it comes through in the dialogue you write for her, it can be felt, her sadness and concern over him isolating himself from the gang. Can't wait to see where the end of this story takes them. In conclusion, I really enjoyed reading your author's note near the end of this chapter. A big part of that is, we actually share alot of similar views in common. I believe I was a freshman, at the time the Senior Prom episode aired for the first time. I felt as disgusted as you over the Tony Miller Selection, the nauseating jock who was chosen to be Brenda's date. I truly felt like it was a slap in the face to my favorite BH90210 character, granted BD were split at this time, but they didn't even bother to introduce anyone else decent for Brenda, even if only for a temporarary amount of time (a season or two). To this day, Brenda was and always has been my favorite. I, too, became annoyed by the growing isolation of Brenda from the gang, starting in S3, all the way into S4. Granted, I did find some favor in Brenda's growing independence come S4, and standing on her own and what she believed in, because the writing just wasn't showing me a loyal group of friends in Brenda's corner that much anymore anyway. So, I was at least happy to note that in the absence of that, she was both being and becoming her own person, even if other characters didn't always agree with her position. The BD friendship, while still weirdly tainted by the BDK triangle drama, also saved me some aggravation in S4 because I did at least appreciate how it didn't take much for Dylan to be the first to end up supporting Brenda (ie. over Kelly conflict regarding the part in the play, the whole Roy Randolph rumor etc. etc.). A new foundation formed between them, I think being away form their romantic entanglement for a bit brought some maturity into their own relationship. Just my opinion, of course. Anyway, great job! Just wanted to pop in and let you know with at least another review before I continue on. Heather |

sg90210 2/10/12 . chapter 41Woohoo! Great ending to a great story! I am so excited for the new story to come! If you want my opinion for the next one it will be this: do not isolate Brenda from the gang like they did in season 4. Also, be sure that Jim and Cindy treat Brenda like an adult. I love how you had Jim agree for brenda to go to Europe with Dylan! & obviously make sure there is alot of drama! Ok wonderful job...post that new story ASAP! I'll be waiting! |
Storywriter 2/6/12 . chapter 39Awesome chapter. |
