This is absolutely lovely. The description of the landscape is poetic and evocative without being florid, and the simplicity of the dialogue contrasts nicely. The touches of dry homour also work well to spice things up.
I can imagine the smallness of Gary's final "I take it back," as I too have often wondered how Goldenlake got its name. A nice idea, beautifully executed!

OMG! I loved this story so much! It was very short but very sweet...in a way that is hard to explain. I especially like the ending when Gary says "Oh, I take it back." Thanks for the great story!)
