Great take on both the strength of a fireman's wife even when confronted with a fear producing situation, and how Cap does tend to answer the hard questions: simply and directly.

I don't know how I missed this little gem.

I have come to really appreciate stories where other characters get some "face time" too.

And yes, Joann would have to be strong, esp. considering how close they are to him!

Dr. Seuss' wisdom issimple and so true. I think Captain Stanley handled things with Joanne perfectly under the conditions. There never is any good way to give 'bad' news so the simple straight truth is always the best way to go.

Very good story and it's nice to see Joanne's character shine through as well. I suspect if the show was made in the present, she would have been a recurring character.
