13 Pairs of Wings 11/22/12 . chapter 7Very cute story. I cant say it was necessarily short in the sense that it was made from few words, but it was short in a way that I finished reading very soon because I enjoyed reading about Alfred's (and towards the end, Arthur's) letters and how they changed over the years, but continued to express what he was feeling. I think the fact that not all of the letters were speaking to Arthur in an "I love you" sort of way is very good. It makes the reader believe that Alfred really means what he's said, and that he isn't writing blindly so to speak. I would also like to say, that upon reading the ending I literally did say, "awww!" The way you ended it felt like there was still more in store for these two and that they still had far to go, but yet was a satisfactory ending. I really enjoyed how you word about Alfred's time during the Civil War. I've seen/read/come across many different ideas about what went down and how Alfred dealt with things, Many of them, I have to say were rather sloppily made. Your's however, I feel no second thoughts about saying that it was one of my favorites. It was believable and dramatic, but not overly so in a way that seemed put on for show. I hope you continue to write many more fanfics, for I know so many writers (myself included) that start something, but never get around to finishing it because of one thing or another. Even if an author take months between updates it always makes me happy to read a new chapter, or story that they have written. From, Wings |
VengefulMothSlayer 11/11/12 . chapter 7That was so beautiful. I think you're wrong. I think that's an absolutely perfect way to write it. But I may take you up on the story idea prompt thing. Once I've finished the half a million other stories I'm writing, posted and un posted. Which is probably never. Still, you captured the perfectly. Well done. I like to think I'm not fluffy. Here I am, nearly brought to tears by a flufy USUK story... God. Rabbit Heart much? |
nisakeehl 8/29/12 . chapter 7Excuse me, but I am going to go and cry in a corner now ;u; That was amazingly beautiful! -Nisa |

Ceilo 5/22/12 . chapter 7This is a beautiful and incredible story, it's been wonderful to read. The idea of the letters is wonderful, and it is so like America to write so many but never send them. Amazing job |
jillyred 4/25/12 . chapter 7me again, i loved this. |
jillyred 4/25/12 . chapter 2hahah another review from me, i do love your reference to actual international law and negotiations. :) |
jillyred 4/25/12 . chapter 1Just want to say that England would probably find it a lot easier to write than america, due to the fact the the english helped them to actually write out the declaration of independence. If you look into all the past documents (magna Carta, treaties, convention on human rights) they were all written with a lot of english influence. England are probably the best at actually writing things like these because they seem to think more about it. No offence to americans haha, no but without the english, the human rights act would have been something like The right to life, and left with just those words. But because of the english they qualified it, made sure there is room to breathe where the right to life (and others) are concerned. Sorry lol, i just have spent the entire year studdying constitutional law for my degree. |
Algea 4/18/12 . chapter 7Aren't I a diligent and dedicated reader?)) But it's entirely your fault, you've captured my heart with the way you write and see usuk relationship. It's very similar to how I see them and it's so interesting and lovely to see how your writing style evolved throughout your works. You used to write "he did that, said that, went there and saw that and then reacted like that" a lot, but now your stories are really smooth and fluent; but what I always treasured the most (and was more than willing to overlook some flaws in your writing style when they were present) is how you write them together and apart. I love your Arthur - he's mature and cynical, but still capable of love and he loves Alfred so much despite everything he had to endure; your Alfred is an easy-going man with a core made of steel, he's not someone you'd like to mess with. And he's more than ready to do anything for Arthur. I love it when America goes all the way to show/prove its love. Because for me those two are the most perfect couple ever with very intricate and intense relationship. So thank you so much for writing them exactly the way you do and for seeing them the exact way I do.)) Returning to this story I must say that the idea with letters and how Francis set this all up was brilliant. I especially loved the bit when Arthur received a whole bunch of hate-letters and he scene when Alfred agreed that Arthur always was a jerk made my heart clench. Did you know your stories always succeed in making me react? They are not just the words on a screen, they suck me in and make me cry and laugh and think how stupid those too are and how I want them to be together in the end, happy. Because they both more than deserve it. Well, now you know it and don't think that I don't like reading something that makes me react emotionally! Quite the opposite, I love it; though this type of stories is extremely hard to find. I know it's getting repetitive, but let me thank you again for writing and sharing your beautiful works. |
dawnfire216 2/8/12 . chapter 7 Aww.. I really like it. It's not too over the top and Iggy and Alfred are in character... But one complaint... On the letters that Arthur sends, could you use British spellings? It just seems to make more sense cause, well, Arthur IS England :D N e ways, thanks for the fic! |
