I think that if Truman were to end up with either of them, it would be better if it were Sylvia. She, at least, is trying to see him as a real person while David wants him to be his ideal. Sylvia's perspective nicely shows the normal reaction people have to the idea of Truman's situation while David's captures why people would be so interested in The Truman Show in the first place.
