LantienLady 10/5/11 . chapter 9OMG - what an exciting episode! OMG What an ending! Glad I read it when I knew you already published the next series, or I would have been screaming in frustration! This episode brings us finally to the conclusion of the epic battle between Todd and John. Both were trying to win. Both for their own type of love. John for Moira. Todd for rejoining his hive - but more likely for the anticipation of a fantastic meal when he had John beaten. Desperation spread throughout this episode. John to beat Todd and save Moira. Carson trying to keep Moira viable. Lorne, realizing McKay was the only hope of the Earth's survival, struggled to save McKay. By Chapter 5, the tension in this episode was unbearable! Ahhhh! And Chapter 8. What a masterful way to absolutely drive the reader crazy! My favorite sections to this episode: Chapter 1-9: The battle between John and Todd was incredibly described. It's amazing I stopped to note anything at all in this episode. You've out done yourself :-) Chapter 2: "Every stuttering breath he took gained him time. Every awkward step away from the Wraith gave him a moment's respite from his injuries. Every inch of distance gave him room to think, to plot, to plan. To find a way to gain the advantage once and for all and to end this thing." Wow. Just wow! Chapter 7: Beginning with: "A child. My child." John's shock of finding out from evil, nasty Todd that Moira was pregnant was heart rending. Interesting how you had him see a future with sons and a dog, just like in the alternate universe that you insist on calling a dream (hint hint - I don't want to let go of it!). And John seeing Todd as a "smirking, smug creature kneeling in front of him." John's view of Todd is just dripping with hate. "There was a moment, a second when their gazes met and held, met and held. A second where each was looking eye to eye with their nemesis. Both knew it was the end. Both would fight for it not to be their own end." Epic. Purely epic! "This has got to put you down," he snarled. I caught this - from the very first Stargage Atlantis episode when John killed the wraith queen. I like these little treats you throw in here and there :-) Chapter 9: When John saw black at the end of Chapter 7, I had no idea he would lose it and kill Todd so viciously. That was an interesting twist. And John never gave up hope of saving Moira. I would have never thought that they could bring her back without Todd being alive. You began this chapter with the single word "Violets". You've referred to those violets throughout the series. And your last reference was: "He took a step, his foot stumbling over something and he looked down, expecting the body to be blocking his foot. But it wasn't the body. It was a clump of wilting violets, dark purple blooms fading as the desert drained them." I don't think I've read any other fanfic author that can make a literary masterpiece out of science fiction show. You have! I loved your ending: "It's the end of the world as we know it. It's the end of the world as we know it. It's the end of the world as we know it… And I feel fine." To Be Continued…" When you finished this chapter, you must have rubbed your hands in glee and, with an evil smirk of your own, said, "Moo ha ha you poor, poor readers. A nice cliffie for you all"! LOL! Well, now I'm finally able to read on. And I'll review right away instead of waiting a couple of months. Sorry about that :-( LL |
Nausicaa2301 7/10/11 . chapter 9I was eager as much as I dreaded to read this last story, knowing you could very well do it again. All along I was thinking, oh no with all these wounds and regenerations Todd won’t be able to relive Moira. And yes he won’t be able to do it now. What an awful way to learn you’re going to be a father and immediately know you’ve already lost your child. I wonder if you’re not taking some sadistic pleasure in hurting Sheppard like that?. But you had to prepare him, call for his dark side. Now he’s a very dangerous man with nothing to loose, who won’t back down at anything to fight off the invasion. But still there is a tiny hope that Moira will be well, there are hundreds of Wraiths on that ship, right?. Yes I know even against all odds my mushy side always takes the upper hand on me!. ;) So I guess Rodney and Evan will be hanging in the air a little while longer :) But I breathed a sigh of relief reading the last three words! Thank you so much, I’m really anticipating john leading the fight against the invasion. |
