Amazing story. This is one of the very few Haymitch/Katniss stories that are extremely well written with believable dialogue minus a wacky storyline with random lemons everywhere. Thank you for writing this; I really love Haymitch and Katniss's friendship and your story just satisfies my need for some good fan fiction.

This was a great little foray into Haymitch's thoughts. He's such an interesting character, and you wrote him well.

To be honest, the first of the Hunger Games trilogy was the only one I fully liked, and this is a very well done expansion of it. "Any further move and he'd have to admit that he cared what happened to them." Lot of strong lines like this one, and you capture Haymitch's character (who was a fantastic and intriguing personality) very well. Really liked the bit about how he's never got a tribute out of the arena before. You very simply get across the pain of that fact without spelling it out. "...for once he might not have to go home and drink away their existence." Really poignant look at how every Hunger Game previous to this one has gone. "Before he'd realized that part of his punishment for his unintentional defiance had been to make it impossible for tributes from District 12 to have a chance at survival." I can see the Capitol doing something like that. Very good job showing the progression of how Haymitch acts towards the tributes. "And whether or not he wanted to admit it, the second she'd pulled out those berries, he'd begun trying to think them out of the mess." Very interesting to see it from his side and to see how much he and Katniss were on the same page and the things he sees that she doesn't. Good job with the hug, and great line to end on.

Pretty good fic, I liked Haymitch's analysis of Katniss and the throwback to the water issue at the start of the Games. Awesome work, you wrote Haymitch really well.

Very very good :) i absolutely agree with you, too. haymitch was my favorite character by far, i think theres so much depth to his character that im obsessed. i was looking for a haymitch-reaction stroy that actually rang true to what haymitch actually might have thought. loved yours!

good grief this was just adorable and perfect - deep sigh - and you do get Haymitch - perfect voice right down to the pleasure he takes in getting Effie wound up.

Terrific story expanding on a sweet moment - and Lord yes we always need more Haymitch - He's the best part of the Hunger games -lol

Excellent work, as always! I liked that it started out fairly dark with Haymitch's thoughts, and then ended on a hopeful note with Katniss' response. Also, cool imagery with Katniss and Peeta being the light in Haymitch's nightmares. (And the addition of Cinna was the icing on the cake!)
