This was an awesome story. I like the way you changed events to get a different ending - I think it's a lot better than the one in the book. Those three were totally meant to be part of each others lives.

I really love your story. Especially the end with the spurs! I like it that you make Rooste appear, even though I am a huge Mattie/Labeouf-fan, I think it's good that you make the old US-Marshall appear, if only for a short time None of the characters is OOC and I think that you described them well. The first kiss between Mattie and Labeouf was sweet and soooooo overdo :D It's good that the kiss happened when she was older, we all wanted it ;) Labeouf sure is the best friend, awesome ranger clown and true hero when he saved her from that man, I thought: Go Labeouf kick his butt :D it was nice to follow him through the movie from his point of view, I showed that he is a respectful, fine and sensitive man with a strong feeling of pride :)
You did an awesome job with this fanfic and I enjoyed reading it very much!

Nice story. The movie was great, I already loved the old one when I was a child, but then I didn't realize that Mattie and LaBoeuf could have feelings for each other. Even when in these movie Mattie was played by a 21 years old girl. Maybe I was too young for those kind of thoughts. But when I saw this new movie it was clear for me that they belong together.

It was nice to find your fic and I really enjoyed the story, as I was secretly hoping for the movie to end that way. I'm not really into fanfiction and english is not my mother language, but as far as I can tell, your writting is fine and accurate to the original book, and that's a very remarkable thing to say. Well done.

True Grit is one of my fave movies and I came across this fic here on FF and am so glad i did! You wrote it so well and the style is amazing. I loved all three characters and I think you nailed them in this one. Also, the inner romantic in me loved the underlying vibe Mattie and La Boeuf had throughout the movie and you've played out their romance perfectly. Thanks for sharing :)

My only complaint so far is that there wasn't more interaction between Mattie & Laboeuf in this chapter. This chapter seemed a bit rushed, but I don't know if you've given yourself a word count... it's not a flame or anything, just my thoughts!

Poor, poor LaBoeuf. I loved your description of the gun fight from LaBoeuf's point of view: 'The cacophony that surrounded me was not to be believed,' etc.

I'm curious to see when LaBoeuf's feelings towards Mattie start to change.

I'm really enjoying this story so far.

Finally, a True Grit happy ending that actually well written and enjoyable! I loved the recent film and have plans to read the book, but this alternate reality almost seems better :)
