Well, rip my heart to shreds, why don't ya! *sniffles* This is a wonderful one-shot and a great look at Dean's psyche after going back to Lawrence. I too hold the belief that Dean did see his mother burning on the ceiling.

I always had an issue with the way Missouri treated Dean but the show sometimes likes to play that for laughs and I find it annoying. Kripke once explained that Bobby's character was introduced because the actress who played Missouri was unavailable but I also noticed that Bobby is much more supportive of Dean but has no hesitation taking him to task when he thinks Dean is straying off course.

Makes sense that Dean probably saw Mary burn, would explain why he didn't talk for a long time.That would have been an unbelievably traumatic experience for a 4 year old. Excellent fic!

Great start! I've always thought that Dean saw a lot more on that fateful night than he admitted to.
