I'm gonna have to agree with FunkyShoeLaces, not just about the beginning. What they said applies to this whole story in general. And it's 23 chapters strong, now. When nothing is changing, you know something's wrong with your work.

Why didn't Light kill her the instant she found out his secret? Why string this along? He was willing to off his entire family, if they became a threat!

Arika or Akira or whatever herself...what's up with her? She reminds me of Bella from Twilight, practically. A hormonal and shallow idiot stick Mary Sue who gets in on the investigation for no adequately explored reason and turns the anime/manga that we love into some kind of inane shojo story, or something. With some cheap smut thrown in to keep readers interested. The case is peripheral in significance, now. She swings back and forth between fearing and hating Light, to willingly come close to getting into his pants. Then she meets L, gets horny for him without properly getting to know him first, and becomes L’s “girlfriend.” She criticizes Misa for doing and saying exactly what she’s just as guilty of, maybe even more so, which simply cracks me up. And all the while, she never. Tells. On. Light. WTF?

I should’ve expected the rampant OOC from the canon cast right off the bat. Of course, L gets max DILP treatment, and the RTDE for Light and Misa (see TV Tropes). L is NOT a guy you’d want to mess with, if you look past the quirks. He says and does the creepiest things (ie., putting Misa in bondage, letting people die by Yotsuba Kira’s hand), and yet you either poorly justify them or don’t address them at all. If he ever developed feelings for someone, I doubt he’d get attached to someone like Arika. And he certainly would never let the relationship or even his feelings show themselves, not when he’s on the biggest case of his life. And the SUSPECTS are hanging out with him. These guys are trying to bring a criminal to justice while making out of it alive. They don’t give a D who’s making out with whom.

And of course, no realism. You don’t draw me in or make me empathize with the characters. I don’t even know if these are the same DN characters we’re talking about.

In short, enough. You should start over from scratch.
