hudgens77 11/19/12 . chapter 1I love it! Your epilogue makes me want to read Rooks and romanticide desperately again XD this is really beautiful, and I loved the relationship you developed between Grell and Lizzy, it was so mature and sad. Amazing!:) |
AmericanTragedy 1/28/12 . chapter 1I have no words. Honestly. You are amazing. |
BlueMoon 9/24/11 . chapter 1 I have read, loved, and reviewed Rooks and Romanticide thanks to this. Now it's your turn! :D *cackles* So. I wasn't sure what to expect, seeing as Rooks and Romanticide ended in a very final manner and already had its own epilogue, but I was pleasantly surprised at the beauty, tragedy, flow, and depth of this, not unlike how Rooks and Romanticide itself was written. Maybe I was expecting something like tears and tantrums from someone like Lizzie, but the way you wrote her quiet acceptance of facts, determination to bring Ciel and Sebastian together for the last time, and ability to move on afterwards was just perfect. Grell, too; his emotions, plus Lizzie's, and the general atmosphere of the whole masterpiece left me crying. I guess that's all to say. White Silver and Mercury really said everything, but I had to review; this was breathtaking. Thanks ever so much. *vanishes among the hazy and cluttered world of fanfiction* :) |

run-for-your-life-hikari 7/25/11 . chapter 1So beautiful. I loved "Rooks and Romanticide" and I love this epilogue. A world of tragedy and beauty is what these stories have painted and maintained in a glorious mix of emotions. Enjoyable and sad till the end. |
White Silver and Mercury 7/25/11 . chapter 1OH MY GOD WHERE DO I BEGIN Okay, so I just started randomly taking notes while reading. They're kind of all over the place, but I don't think that matters. I'm bursting at the seams with pride and flattery and gratitude and awe. I love love love that you had Grell cut his hair off. It really shows me that the bond between Grell and Sebastian that I wanted to portray really shone through, and I'm so happy you could take it and prove it more like you did. Also, Lizzy having a gun? YES. Sexy. But it fits her character, and her family, and the way that she's feeling in the wake of the tragedy. All in all, this is so beautiful... The word choice, the prose, the macabre anguished feel of the whole thing is really echoed in each description-of a person, an action, or a setting-and I can only feel more honored the more I read, because you're such a talented author and you've done tragically gorgeous things with the ending of R&R. The haunting of the rook was perfectly eerie. I loved it. I love rooks. That's what I miss the most about living in Seattle: the rooks. They stole my lunch, once. They're scary. I LOVE THEM and this is just something I got personally from reading this, but you brought back those memories and tying them in with the words and the imagery made the impact all the stronger. And ohhh, the quotes and allusions! alskdjgadskjl I loved it. It gave it such a majestic feel, in a way. I'd wanted, initially, when starting R&R, to use a lot of quotes from the actual Romeo and Juliet play-but as the story grew, I felt like it was becoming more of its own tale so I decided not to try and force it to blend with Romeo and Juliet, literary tactics or not. So needless to say, seeing all these different phrases and quotes woven into the beautiful tapestry that is this Epilogue, is so magical. Majestic, almost, like I said. The whole thing has the feel of a dream, and I like that because it's taking place after the funeral, after the tale, after the tragedy. Everybody's kind of reeling still, and this is structured and written and exudes the same grim, gothic sensation of drifting along and catching details here and there-to use a quote I just fell in love with yesterday, "as beads tossed helter-skelter to the light". Something that popped into my head while reading it was that it flows like a good song that stirs your soul and keeps you temporarily breathlessly hypnotized. You captured the essences of Lizzy and Grell both as their own rightful characters, and as the characters who held their rightful places in R&R and IT WAS TRAGICALLY CUTE, hahah. "Tongues of flame, like an ardent lover, licking eager trails down a lithe neck, down sylphlike thighs..." I admire any author who weaves a sentence like that that makes a burning body sound sexy, lmao. Seriously. Just the effort and strength you put into things is flawless-not a lot of people do that, especially not in fanfiction, and it's coming to my dismay that I can't read anything except something from authors who put that much heart into their words anymore. Lizzy looking at Sebastian's corpse with eyes "doleful as the gaze of Mother Mary" was such beautiful echoing from the last chapter. God, you couldn't have captured the division between the feuding families better than in this sentence: "There is nothing on land that does not bear one crest or another." It's absolutely sad and agonizingly, bittersweetly perfect that Lizzy discovered the secret after Ciel died-and then was determined to help Grell put the bodies of Sebastian and Ciel together. Just all the little details in this, literary and descriptive, and the allusions to the fic and to the actual story... aslgjadslkj I'm so happy to have this out there, and so happy to have someone like you to share in this idea. I really am. Thank you. So, so, so much, a million times thank you. - Jer |
Li the Twilight Knight 7/24/11 . chapter 1Making me cry again, Moony, damn it... XD But I'm glad you wrote this, at least. I loved Rooks and Romanticide a lot, but the one thing that bothered me was that their families had buried them apart. Now I can be content. (Grell and Lizzy being friends FTW!) |
12marina21 7/24/11 . chapter 1*Verbal keysmash* No need to feel guilty tacking on this little masterpiece to the end of r&r, dear. It adds more depth and a bit of a side story while still keeping true to the ending! (Not to mention that the mental images playing in my mind while reading it made me sniffle a tad ;u;) I always love what you write, Moony- keep up to fantastic *lists compliments that would make this message take up three pages* work |
