Hurr. I never reviewed this. I AM A BAD FRIEND. I had stuff I wanted to copy/paste but forgot to, and blah blah, whatever, no excuses, I suck.

Anyway, this is awesome. One quibble is the comparison to weakness and a newborn foal. A newborn foal is walking really fast (couple of hours) after birth. So her voice wouldn't be all that weak, then! Hehe.

I liked all the small details you put into this piece. Like Farina herself (her boots!), or the picture...or...well, all of it. You didn't waste space with meaningless drivel and try to explain ALL THE THINGS. You just wrote what needed written to make the story make sense.

It's like we're glimpsing part of a canon, here, that could be expanded if one wanted to, or left exactly as it is and still be just as wonderful.

All in all, this was a great story, one of, if not THE, best modern-day FE AU there is.

I started playing FE7 when I was about 10 years old, and after almost 10 long years, I still love all the characters. Seeing you paint them into our world was fantastic.

You wrote your characters with wonderful honesty, something you did in Blanket of Stars as well. But you fleshed Florina out so much more in this story. You made her like us, real people living in the real world, and you did it so well. All of it was very imaginable.

You're a wonderful writer. I can't wait to read more.

I really liked the atmosphere and the slice-of-life genuineness. There are one or two places that I vaguely thought was out-of-place, but I forget them by now. This is just suuuch a well-executed modern AU. It is so very modern. And I like how you dealt with things like pegasi to horses. I like how you addressed the way that social class and attitude mingle toward deciding where people end up on the high school social totem pole.

This really is a wonderful little thing. :D

This was ridiculously cute. I was stuck in wibble-mode pretty much the entire time. I think fics like this are the perfect application of AU settings: the little taste you give us of this world is just enough to supplement the characters and keep our interest. I never would have considered Florina and Erk as a pairing, but you built it up to be very cute and believable from just this small exchange.

I can definitely say this left me wanting a lot more, though, which is a testament to its quality. But I don't think a little more expansion would have hurt. Namely, I was looking for a hint as to why Florina was afraid of men in this AU and what made her approach Erk despite that. Maybe I missed something?

Anyway, this was lovely and easily one of my favorite FE stories. :)

This was a beautifully detailed AU, with a lot of squee-worthy little moments (Farina's combat boots and rugby shirt, the name of Erk's horse, the stain on Florina's skirt). Everyone was vividly characterized and it felt like a glimpse into a fully-realized world. The only odd note was that some of Erk's lines didn't feel like natural speech, and given how good everything else was, I'm wondering if that wasn't deliberate.

Loved it! Very cute and Erk... is Erk. :)
