Stupendous. Fate struggles to retain its shape, so just as Elrond changes it for a good reason, it backfires with a hell of a kick. Bless him. I love him, Cirdan and right now, you too!

Yes, Elrond did love his foster-father - but perhaps should have killed him as well. These things are really really complex.
I'm with Soledad on this story- how dare everyone around him abandon him after he made this decision? Whether it was right or wrong, he made it for the right reasons, and is punishing himself enough. Cirdan is acting like a self-righteous prick. I hope he gets over it and gives Elrond the love he needs.

I really love this story - it's based on such an interesting premise and is extremely well-written. I'm looking forward to reading more about the repercussions of the destruction of the ring so much earlier than it happened in LoTR. And the fact that you're writing about one of my favourite characters just adds to my interest.

Please keep writing!!!

That was a really sad story, but it was good. Please write more.

Yay! Another Cirdan story! These are scarce. . . And it's a good one too! PLEASE CONTINUE! The only thing is, you mentioned that Elrond had to go tell Isildur's sons that he was dead, but three out of four of them died when he did, and the last one was not even a year old yet and had never known him, because he was born in Rivendell. Oh, yeah, and I almost forgot, it's Elwing, not Elfwing.

As you know, I *have* read Choices and liked it a much. This story is a seamless continuation, and I hope it was hold long, even if it's really depressing.
Maybe it is the hardness of my heart, but I think Elrond had done the right thing. Sometimes hard decisions must be made, and, sadly, sometimes people have to be sacrificed. I don't think the knowledge that he did what was necessary would help Elrond to deal with his own consciousness, but the others - in my opinion - had no right to handle him like Typhoid Mary.
Sorry fro having gotten a little away with anger, but hypocricy often has this effect upon me.

Neat idea, to follow up CHOICES. Doing what he did *would* have an effect on Ekrond, and those around him. I'm interested to see where you go with this, as I liked the mood you're conveying here.
