Sakura no Miko
2004-09-18 . chapter 5
This was is one of the best character studies I have ever read. Period.
Of course, the main draw of YnM is the characterizations, but..wow, you've jsut made all of theme completely accessible even to non-YnM fans. Major kudos.
The fact that you could even delve so deeply into such complicated--not to mention dark--characters is amazing in itself. It's the darkness that stymies most people, rather than the complexity. But you managed to make them sound so human, so...natural, despite their problems.
Just...wow.

Excellent. Intelligent. Insightful. Watari is a scientist born, his observation skills are unparalleled in this. Not only in his experiments, but in matters of the heart and soul.

I love this fic. It's just so... something. It's nice to have Watari showing the wisdom we all know he has somewhere... when he isn't blowing himself up of course. I like the idea of Watari advising future generations. It really strongly reminds me of some book that I liked, but since I can't bring it to mind, forget it. Happy writing.

That...really really really touched me. I loved it! It made my eyes water it was so good...and it's probably something he would write, too.... I feel so...moved. Write that down somewhere.... "August 28, 3:47 PM - moved Elf"

I'm so glad you're continuing this story...it's very well-written, and I lov your characterization of Watari.
Now, I noticed you mentiond a sequel for "Surrender"...if I went all chibi and pleaded with you, do you think it would help with that mental block you're having?:) The Off Hours - Surrender arc is some of my favourite Yami fanfiction. ^__^

Wow. Simply amazing, once again. I love your Watari - he's very intelligent, sharp, and introspective. And I agree with Ysabet... very kind, gentle, in his observations about the others. I really liked the comparation you made between Tsuzuki and an actor - that struck very true in my mind.

Your writing is lovely, and very smooth. Adore it - it has so much depth of emotion, things that truly took thought to write and then carefully crafted. And I'm not sure if this was purposeful or not, but there seems to be a light veil of sadness in this fic. Or nostalgia. Subtle, and makes me feel somber/wistful too. Lines like:

"Hopefully you will have heard of him...he is one of those people that is hard to forget. One of the ones that you hope never to forget."

Which is entirely true. And everyone worries about that, to an extent. Who *doesn't* fear being forgotten?

Anyway, very nice job. I love your style.

Ahhhhh, another Watari-diary glimpse! Very thoughtful and oddly gentle; liked it a lot. Y'know, this falls along how I see his character so much that I feel like you've been reading *my* thoughts-- I've always considered him the deepest thinker of the Juuouchou lot. Tatsumi, Tsuzuki, Hisoka, all the rest, they tend to focus their thoughts outwards because of their pasts; Watari tends to focus his inwards despite his past and because that's what a scientist does: inspects and examines the world, internally as well as externally. You nailed him completely (at least to me). This one's a joy to read. Go, go, go!

This is REALLY nice. And the yaoi hints are wonderful, as well. ;) ^_~ But this is a really good look at Watari- and I appreciate that. Although not my favorite character (HISOKA! Yes, I need help =P), he is one that interests me the most, and I don't think a journal by any other character would be as interesting. Please keep writing. =)

*glomps on to silvershadeus* Yes! You've written more! Such good work! I love how you write Watari - or rather, how he writes himself into the journal. He grasps things, observes and knows. It's wonderful how he's talking to the "future", and it makes me somewhat sad to think that. Even with this second life, they really don't last forever, aww.

Thumbs up to 003! And with introducing his friends ^_^ Can't wait.

Lovely; you write this as though you were peering over Watari-san's shoulder and copying the words. What more can I say? Except 'Keep going!!!'

Hey, this is amazing! What a fascinating look into an interpretation of Watari's mind... please write more! You have a very clear and eloquent way of expressing yourself and I'd love to hear more of this!

Speechless... (well, no, because I can't be. But I can type softly, I guess.) That was GREAT. Just lately there's been a lot more Watari fics written, and I have to wonder why; is it just that people are finally appreciating him due to happenings in manga Vol. 11? Whatever... I'm just glad that there are! Glad you're gonna continue this one, too--- it'll be a joy to read.
