My brother-in-law is in Afghanistan right now and it's really hard on my older sister, especially because he has a hard time talking about what he sees over there. I really miss him but I know he will be back soon. This really made me think about all the shit he is going through over there and even though I just saw him for thanksgiving it still hurts that he had to leave.

Oh, I'm getting slow at posting my rr (and reading your stories haha) It's just that, I don't know why, it's been a while now since the last time I wanted to read something, and that's killing me. I LOVE READING, for Gods sake! I don't understand why I'm not reading (I'm not making any sense at all, I know, but still!)

This one was beautiful. The first part almost made me cry. I was wondering, why did you choose Kid instead of BlackStar? Just curious, but I kinda liked Kid in the context of the story, it gives off a warmer feeling to it...

First of all let me say that I'm glad you decided to continue this one-shot. I've read a handful of your stories now - all Soul Eater at this point - and I have to agree with the a/n at the end: it is less fluffy. I guess one might expect it to be "less" than some of your other stories since it isn't your typical vein, however I have to say you really nailed this piece. Even if you didn't decide to continue it, I think you left it at a good enough stopping point for us to imagine our own ending (although I have to admit I'm hoping the next chapter will be fluffy).

I really, really have to say that you did such a good job of progressing this story in a way that it wasn't rushed, and perhaps the biggest thing that kept me reading: you made it very realistic. It wasn't just, "Yay Maka fixed all problems, happily ever after!" There was actually a struggle, there was actually a good dose of emotion that wasn't just warm and fuzzy, but actually held some weight and made me stop and think about it. I also think the general idea - the metaphor of being a weapon especially - fit perfectly into the Soul Eater setting. That was probably the last big thing I could point out to you that really impressed me: the characters were in-character, despite being in a slightly AU universe. People too often use AU as an excuse for OOC-ness. I'm glad you didn't resort to that.

Love Soul and Kid's relationship. It's totally different from the kind of friendship Soul has with Black Star, and I like how mature it makes Soul's character feel, even though in the flashbacks of Kid, we see the playful, sarcastic attitude we're used to.

Sometimes a story really gets to you. This one did for me. The point where Soul says "During an explosion. We didn't see it and he was in the danger zone… I was too far away to reach him in time when it went off." I heard it in my head and I felt my eyes water. Please keep writing as much as you can.

The two chapters were just overwhelming themselves, thank you so much to u, scarlet, and crow for sharing this. Totally brought back memories of my obsession for maka and soul that declined awhile back when i found another couple to fanasize about, haha. I'm so happy all ends well. ;)
