Alright glad you didn't give him Saber, since Saber's ideals and his own now do not really match. Though I am curious who he got. Also good choice for the summoning incantation, I think it sums up how your Shirou thinks really well. Like his specialty in magic and the fact he knows he is a magi. Basically I like that you changed basically everything about him.

Wow, a very interesting chapter, the fights were well-written and the outcomes were pretty enjoyable and surprising. The mage's death was a nice display of shirou's unconventional abilities, deficient in some ways but awesome in others, hopefully shirou will be able to become much more powerful from the analysis of the mage's body and magic crests, heck maybe his special ability will allow him to transfer the command crest and allow him two servants.
On another note, I wonder how caster managed to survive and what caused shirou's period of confusion.
