And for a few minutes there, Gibbs had been wondering if he was going to escape from the conversation without finding out for himself just what that cane felt like." - Two feelings after having read that bit: About 90% vengeful satisfaction on Ducky's behalf that he chewed Gibbs out like that; and 10% relief that Gibbs did not get a spanking himself.

His team had heard Ducky's loud demand to talk in private; they didn't need to know that Gibbs had been the target of his wrath, not just a convenient sympathetic ear. Ah I thought Gibbs might get it. He's wise to not want to feel that cane, though I fear that maybe one day he will feel it? Another great story, thanks for sharing.

I like thinking about the comparison between Jimmy and Tim in these kind of scenes - both are nervous and really want to please their respective bosses, but they handle the punishments really differently. And clearly Gibbs and Ducky have really different styles of discipline. I'm kind of intrigued by the fact that you haven't had Ducky give much more exposition around his punishment of Jimmy - was that a conscious decision? So many possibilities!

We rarely get to see Ducky angry yet you can tell that he has it in him...

And Ducky does seem to be the only one that Gibbs might "worry" about having him angry with him.
