*cries* This is so sad and adds depth to Alistair. Great story!

I think I prefer this to "Dropped Calls". I read both of them and though I really love the simplicity of the other, this is better. I think it is because we get to see a part of Alistair's history no one ever really stops to think about. Great fic!

I must say you are just too good at angst! Ive been reading your stories now for about 3-4 hours straight and thats about how long my heart has been breaking! And yes, i love it lol! Im such a sicko haha!
Really though, youve captured something amazing here. Something that the game truly never touches on. Not this aspect of Alistairs hurt. We all know the way he was raised but never got to see how the absence of his father truly affected him. Which is ofc part of the reason we all love fanfiction so much, to delve in to and explore what they left out. I think this is a perfect representation of Alistairs reaction to his fathers death. I think what got me the most was at the end tho : "He climbs a tree to watch the fire burn. There's not even a body. Even at the end he doesn't get to see his father. That's appropriate."
Gah, heart strings officially broken! Great job!

The game does a really good job of glossing over what Alistair is supposed to feel about his father, always driving the focus of the issue to his desire to NOT inherit the throne. You do a very good job of bringing the focus back to where it should be. I love this.

Oh, Alistair. *sigh*
Wonderful job. Again. :) Very, very sad, and a hugely worthwhile addition to my Alistair-angst collection. Anger and uncertainty drip from every word - perfect.

I has a sad too, like JayRain.
This is a wonderfully written piece. I can feel the uncertainty Alistair has just dripping from the words.
Really nice job.

I have the sad now :(
If only Alistair knew my headcanon Cailan wants to share the uncertainty and grief with him... but alas it is not so. I love how uncertain he is about his grief: feel it or not? Be sad, or angry? And then the end where he still feels he has nowhere to go...
Once again, this is brilliant work that portrays a character at his most vulnerable.
