Moonstone Tears 8/14/02 . chapter 1This is beautiful. It envokes strong emotion from the reader. Fantastic. "Fëanor the greatest of elves, Has led his kin to where grief dwells, Out of Aman into terror, Out of Aman into horror. I watch you from my tower tall, As one by one, my children fall! " I adore those last two lines. Well done. |
naltariel 5/18/02 . chapter 1I almost shed my tears. This is the first time I read from Vala's POV, very bold attempt from you. and you succeed! :-). |
evenstar 5/11/02 . chapter 1 it's really sad, but it's good |
Ithilwen too lazy to log in 4/28/02 . chapter 1 Very nice! I've always thought the Doom of Mandos was more a prophecy, spoken by those who can best see the Music, than a curse. The Valar must have been angry in part because they felt so helpless, watching those they loved deliberately choosing a path that the Valar knew would lead them in the end to anguish, and being unable to infringe on their free will to stop them. You capture their grief nicely in this poem. |
Oboe-Wan 4/23/02 . chapter 1Oh. You've really captured a sense of the regret, sadness, and helplessness I've come to associate with the Eldar, the Maiar, and - as it only makes sense - the Valar. "The choices you’ve learnt to call fate..." This line struck me as so beautiful, and so RIGHT. Blame can be shifted however one sees fit, but in the end, each person must be responsible for his or her choices. Very, very lovely. |
