My first criticism is that I HATE ROMAN NUMERALS! Okay, that is basically my only criticism. I cringe when I read that "this is based on. . ." and the next chapter is essentially a transcript of an entire episode: Thank you for not doing that. I really liked how you managed to slip in new dialog that brought in the essence of your AU universe to the existing Castle framework. Nicely done. Also good job on NOT making Aimee a perfect, flawless child. I really like the rough edges, and the fact that Kate doesn't really know how to automatically respond to her needs.

Great ending to this chapter - I would like to suggest that Castle ad-libbed that entire speech to save face for Kate. Their evening could now include the pair of them trying to remember exactly what he had said while the precinct listened (he could keep to himself the fact that he had recorded the words on his phone and could have always just replayed the entry, but it would be more cute if he and Beckett could spend their time trying to recreate his tale).

In short, very, very nice. I look forward to reading your next installment. I think this is the best story you've posted to date - refreshing, with a nice twist. Looking forward to Alexis meeting Aimee - she might be a good babysitter in time of need for Beckett. (Hint.)

Fantastic chapter! I really like what you've done with this story. It's familiar but it's also fresh and new and fun! Loving it!

this is an interesting angle. I'm enjoying the season one rewrite with the addition of a little more Beckett baggage. interesting to see where this goes.

I thought it made perfect sense, and I absolutely love what you did with the end of the case, and their "not-date." I can't wait to see what happens with Rick, and what happens when he eventually finds out about Aimee.

I love love love the flashback that you had here. The extra spin on that familiar scene was brilliant. And did Castle see her with Aimee? Coz it seemed odd that he wasn't surprised or didn't comment on the fact that she has a child.

I'm still enjoying this very much. It's unique and entertaining, while showing us the most broken Beckett of the AU bunch, I think. I really like how you've built this side of her character, and Aimee is adorable. I can't wait to see what happens when she and Rick meet.
