Suddenly it was very important to Neal that Elizabeth understand he and Keller had never been the same guy.

I love Elizabeth's answer, which sticks by her husband but allows for the possibility of believing Neal.

And of course, Neal going back to sleep with Peter's hand on his collar - what wonderful imagery! - is the perfect way to conclude this story.

You know, in other times and stories, I might have found the bear twee but it completely works here, as does Neal's solemn proclamation about that the bear is "smarter than the average bear, and he has even smarter friends."

And you totally nail Peter's reaction - both an internal eye roll and a thank you - in that one look.

Another awesome story from you. I particularly love how you wrote this post-cliffhanger story. I think it will still be valid no matter how Jeff Eastin & company treat the story (they are NOT going to kill El) because Neal will come up with a cunning plan and Peter is not going to trust it entirely.

Great post-success emotional reaction and realization by Neal as he realized that his past cockiness was related to his level of confidence and how much he cared about losing.

Wonderful! Perfect wrap up to the season cliff hanger. You handle the characters so well. They're perfect! Keep writing!

I love the answer Elizabeth had and that Peter later confirmed that Neal did not have the Nazi loot.

Great chapter, loved this whole story!

I loved it.

The whole story was so very good.

I understood why El,was the way she was with Neal,but I know it hurts him.

The last thing in this story,"I never thought of that as a kind of security." Peter's arm around Elizabeth stretched out and Neal felt Peter fasten onto the back of his collar. "You know, you're right. This feels much better."

El snickered.

Loved that especially in this a way to end a beautiful story.
