I liked this quite a bit, anthfan. The tension of the vague hostage situation was well played as was Kate's disorientation about what it could mean if Rick was killed.

"It was like a final puzzle piece sliding into place and she just knew. Knew she could get there. Knew it was possible. And then she'd had to wait and see if her future was going to die before it even had a chance to begin."

I also liked the scenario you employed to her her to this decision.

Bravo.

I don't think I can fully explain just how much I love this fic, there's so much in here that I love; I think the following is one of my favorite lines from a fic ever though, there's something so simple but so perfectly apropos about it:

- His grip grew tighter for a second and the conversation they weren't having out loud was deafening.

OMG the way you wrote Kate running up to him when he gets out is something I sooo wish would happen on the show. And the line "pulling back to meet his eyes and he watches the final walls crumble." best ever.
