You are right and that makes me wonder how young ash's now bayleaf was when he caught her as chikorita she acts similar to Togepi he did with misty to ash wanting to make them proud and not quite understanding others. I think the physduck misty got was pretty young to you can tell its not explainble and of course we watched Togepi hatch

i'm not sure if how togepi ask but it dose see misty as mama. it also like pickachu(lets just say to exent its good humans they travel with dont understand everything they say) thinks that ash is its dad and confused upon their fight. They also see Brock as some weird uncle that group of 5 if you count pokemon when saying the group is a disfucntal family. seriously I don't think pickachu and togepi get that they are human

Yeah, Togepi doesn't act like this. But that doesn't mean that he won't when he gets older and closer to evolving and things start to change. It seems more speculative than AU.

Well I thought it was great. More angst than Dawson's Creek. (Right, ok, in my book, that's a good thing) I think it captures the essence of Togepi's whole personality, in that it doesn't want to fight. Even though, as you said Togepi is usually a happy Pokemon that stresses Pikachu. Yay! Brilliant!
