Wow! A letter from Mary! What an awesome idea! And just what Dean needed at that moment. He didn't see it before because it wasn't there before. It was something he'd changed when he went back. Very cool idea.

Nice one. :)

Loved this fic and the title that is a reflection of the mood between the boys. Too bad that they keep coming back to this mood so often. :(

One of the things I recall most from when Mary made the deal with YED was the way she looked at Dean - with guilt, saddness, and yet determination. So I really love the idea that she wanted to explain things to hunter Dean and left a letter for him. More importantly, she was proud of him and made him realize even more why Sam started working with Ruby.

Wonderful story and it was great to see you writing again after the new season has begun. Thanks for sharing this with us. Until next time...

Boy, the more the seasons on TV change, the more they stay the same. Misunderstand, fight, split, kick supernatural butt, reunite, rinse, repeat. But enough on the present season.

A cynic would find it very easy to look at the history in this story and say "the sins of the father", and I'm sure some do. But the choices the Winchesters and Campbells have made can't be just lumped into that kind of generality. For one thing, the story would fizzle if anyone could. But for another, that's not how they make their choices. Sure, there's probably some selfishness in them, most likely a lot of grief and probably some fear of some kind wrapped up in every choice all of them have made. They usually aren't the best choices and frequently aren't so wise. But there's a whole lot of love in every one, and as the Good Book says, love "covers a multitude of sins". Me, I figure they do the best they know how with what they do know. In the end, that's pretty much what we all have to do.

Nice introspection.

I like that Dean got a letter from young Mary. It probably made him feel better about not being able to help her. It probably helped Sam alot when Dean agreed to try and save poor Jack from turning. The older hunter actually probably took what little chance he had to control the change when he threatened the wife.

Sam especially seems to try hard to give enven the monsters a fair chance.

Thank you,the letter from Mary was sweet,Dean needed to hear her side of why she made the deal.

I'm so pleased to see you back with more new fic! Yay!

I adore the idea that Mary left a letter for Dean - you always manage to find these little 'what ifs' from episodes and this one was very special considering Dean's relationship with his mother.

What I also admire about your writing is show impartial you are, not throwing blame on either brother, just pointing out the flaws and exploring why both brothers make the choices they do. It's a lovely quality to have and it allows for some very interesting character exploration and introspection.

This was a gem of fic - thank you so much for sharing! Take care, Abbi

You always do such a wonderful job of 'seeing' all the scenes that we never think of and then sharing them with us in a story.

I love the added touch of Dean finding a letter from Mary.

Thanks for sharing another story with us.

Take care.

I really liked the add on with the Letter Mary sent to DEAN. That gave me some closure for this episode. I really never re-watched this episode, I wasnt really crazy about it. I may consider going back to it now.

And yes, autocorrect got to my last review. I didnt meant to say sorry I was Kate, I meant to say Late...lol.. i am not even named kate...lmao.. but i laughed when i saw that. And hey... not late today :)

Amazing fic as usual. As twisted as the Winchester family history is, it truly is all based on epic love and difficult choices.I'm glad the last episode at least partially resolved the boys' latest interpersonal conflict. Things don't go well when they are separated whether physically or emotionally.

The Campbell / Winchester clan must be one of the most messed up families in history!

I do love the idea of Mary leaving a letter for Dean with Elkins!

This was a really touching piece, and it was heartbreaking in a way, too. That part of the whole family history has been a tragic bit ever since we heard about it, and you did a nice job of bringing it into the brothers' relationship.

Great job!

Well, whether or not the brothers believe it, I agree with Mary: her boys were worth the price she paid.

I like how you've showed Dean's gradual realisation of Sam's inner struggles, and that he's beginning to understand where he's coming from, even if he still thinks its wrong.

Lovely fic to come home to after a hard day at the lab.

Cheers hon.

Kind regards,

This was great. You got the tension between the boys perfectly but loved how the letter from Mary to Dean made him realise that Sam was acting just like the rest of the family and cut him some slack.
