Great chapter! I love your Pomona Sprout. I wonder if she's going to turn out to have known Hermione's grandmother? They sound a bit like birds of a feather. The rainbow response to the colored chocolates was excellent, too. I don't think Minerva would be quite such a prune as to punish them, but I see you need to give Severus enemies to fight, here.

I'm really loving this story so far. It has some uniqueness to it, unlike many of the story lines that have been beaten to death by repetition. The only thing - and it's a very minor thing, but for some reason still bothers me - is that in chapter 8 (I think?) where Hermione is first coming to Hogwarts she describes there being 20-30 students at each of the house tables. This seems like an underestimation to me as it would only leave 3-5 students per year in each house. And classes would only consist of 6-10 students. In Harry year we know there were at least 8 Gryffindors. Anyways, I don't mean to harp on that, it just kept bothering me for some reason. I really do love the story though and I hope you update again soon! I can't wait to read more.

The author has a natural flair for playing with our heartstrings as well as knowing when to stir a dilemma.

I like the relationship Severus and Pomona have, not a paring I've seen before, but it does make sense that they'd be comfortable with one another as their subjects are linked and everything. It's good how you've developed it and I like the voice you've given her. I always thought she'd be a very mothering witch, but I also like how she's really wise, observant and protective. Are we going to see more conversations with her and the Potion's master? I hope so, this one was really good.
