 greenleaf-in-bloom 5/20/04 . chapter 1I. Love. This.
I think the last line breaks the spell a bit, though. If you could add something else after it or replace it with something similar, but a bit less ... airy, I guess, I think it would keep it better. It just seems a bit open-ended, like another line belongs after it.
My thought was "They couldn't stop him,", but I don't know.
Oh, dear. Most of this review must seem negative. Don't be fooled. I adore it. It's very, very good. |
liquidiamond 12/7/02 . chapter 1Oh, so sad. Poor Toulouse. And I did always sorta get the idea that most people only thought of him as "a twisted little dwarf". Very good! |
anon 8/5/02 . chapter 1 Poor, poor Toulouse... I am sobbing right now. He's so broken. Going off to cry some more :( |
Twix 7/12/02 . chapter 1Oh, wow, this was amazing! I really got chills down my spine at the end. It was beeeutiful!
'He was a drunk and died in a detox clinic in 1902, when the Bohemian Revolution was fading away.'

TK 5/4/02 . chapter 1 *Stares at the screen. Blinks once, twice, three times* Woha. That was deep. Woha. That was really good. Wow. *Wanders off to think about this* |
Black Tangled Heart 5/4/02 . chapter 1i'm almost in tears! that was so beautiful and crippling all at the same time. the darkness added to the reality that toulouse is forced to live with, and the green fairy is only a mere illusion or what he longs for: freedom. very well done! |
Kristin 5/3/02 . chapter 1 Toulouse-Lautrec died when he was like 30. I thought you might want to know. He was a drunk and died in a detox clinic in 1902, when the Bohemian Revolution was fading away. |
 obsessive 5/3/02 . chapter 1Broken wings can’t fly…
omg this was sooo sad :''( i feel so bad for toulouse, i like how its centered around him cuz ppl dont ususally write about tolouse.
the symbolism was very powerful too...im glad he flew. |
Lady in Red 5/3/02 . chapter 1 I agree with you, it was very dark, but it was soo good :) |
Bohemian Storm 5/3/02 . chapter 1Wonderfully written. *sniff* So very sad. Poor, poor Toulouse. You captured his inner thoughts very well. Outside the same, but inside completely broken.
I loved the whole 'flying' thing. When I first came to read it I saw the title and thought it would be about Satine ('cause I have some kind of problem with reading summaries), but when it turned out to be Toulouse, I was delighted.
And I got a dedication. *squels with delight and dances around the room* Thank you, thank you, thank you! |
