Tanith, I personally feel you could definately expand this and make it much more dynamic, but as it is right now it's very good. It's always good to see introspections into the most complex Vampire in the whole Buffy universe (at least to me) but I would love to feel more of this "slow burn" you write about.

I like this very much. Especially the part about being turned to ashes when his own flame met Buffy's. Smart and aware, like you always are.
But I dunno about the "dragons buried under tweed" thing, unless you're talking about the particular social class he inhabited. Because if you really know Victorian London--the debauchery going on in Gentleman's Clubs, the violence in the streets, the dirty dirty stuff that was swept under the rug of history and never made the papers or the Dickens novels--you'd know that the English of the time were far from calm and always much rougher than you'll see depicted in a Sherlock Holmes movie. Read FLASHMAN by George MacDonald Fraser sometime; you'll be very entertained.
