saafish 5/26/12 . chapter 1im not usually one to read fics with OC's but i read the first sophie story on a whim and im so glad i did because this series is brilliant. love the way you write each of the characters and their interactions with sophie are gorgeous. she is also a very well written OC. the ending broke my heart, sherlock with dementia? WHYYYY! so sad. but beautiful and wonderful and a great ending to a brilliant series :) |
dreamergirl090 5/22/12 . chapter 1Really lovely. I loved all of Sofie's tales. Sometimes I'm hesitant with characters I'm unfamiliar with, but she warmed my heart. This one-shot really broke me. The way it was written simply broke me from the fall to Lestrade's stabbing to Mary's death and most of all Sherlock's memory fading. It felt so human, but still so lovely at the same time. Love your writing. |
Sandyy 3/27/12 . chapter 1Can I just say... I LOVE Sofie. I've read all of your Sofie stories and she's just such an awesome OC. I'm really impressed the way you portray her. She's an adorable little girl, but at the same time she's such an old soul from all that she's seen already. I bet she was an invaluable support to poor Lestrade when Jenny died! And I knew she'd be just that for John after Reichenbach.
I also loved her reaction to Sherlock's return and your portrayal of her developing into an adult. And I laughed at poor Lestrade's reaction to 'the next Mycroft'! Not to mention Mrs. Hudson and Sofie's judgment on Twilight!
Anyway, I could just go on an on about this fic. I love it to bits, and I really hope this isn't the last Sofie story! |
Jodi2011 2/12/12 . chapter 1"Easy," she said, patting the hand that held hers as she gave John's words back to him. "I've got you, soldier."
once again you and Sofie have reduced me to tears... |
LadyKate24 2/8/12 . chapter 1I have to tell you, at first I was wondering why you only put five stories at the top. I fell in love with Sophie quite a bit. But this was wrapped up brilliantly. Bittersweet with just enough hope left in at the end to leave you smiling. Abso-bloody-lutley brilliant. |
Ignotus Somnium 1/28/12 . chapter 1This is absolutely beautiful. The bit at the end is one of the most heartbreaking scenes I've read in fanfiction. Poor, poor Sherlock. But Sophie was fantastic throughout this series. All of the characterization is spot-on and comes across very naturally. |
mangaluva 1/28/12 . chapter 1I started laughing- I can completely sympathize with Mrs Hudson's willingness to watch Twilight for Jacob's abs- but now I'm in floods. Your charting of their progression through the years was beautiful, went right up for a while with Greg and John's marriages- but then just slowly slid into tragic with first Mary's death, and then Sherlock's slide into what is unmistakably dementia. Good to know that John's still a real ladies' man as he ages, but hell, it's Martin Freeman, he's just as gorgeous as Rupert Graves :D and he and Sherlock, bros for life. Gahh, it's too sad and lovely all at once. Amazing writing, beautiful characterization, and I just love the amount of character that Sofie brings out of everyone while having so much herself. I'd feel much more confident in the government if someone like her was actually running it ;) |
Fluffy Bunny Slippers 1/27/12 . chapter 1I love this little series. I don't even know how to describe it. "Cute" just doesn't cut it.
I don't know why I read this one, though. It makes me cry every time I read it and it's not even sad! (I still like it.) |
 Hekateras 1/14/12 . chapter 1Damn.
Rather bittersweet towards the end, but that's how it needed to be.
*sigh* |
not paranoid enough 1/10/12 . chapter 1Love it xD Sofie is one of the best OC characters that I've read. And the bits circling Reichenbach made me go all teary and sappy. Thank you. That's hard to do.
But, seriously, please, please, please say that this isn't the end! I don't care if she's all grown up, and that Sherlock has Alzheimer's or anything. The world-well, the internet-needs more Sofie stories. |
owl-eats-waffles 1/9/12 . chapter 1Beautiful and powerful, and beautiful and moving, and beautiful again... |
HKay 1/4/12 . chapter 1It took me a while too review this. It is so emotional to me. You've made these characters so real that I can't bear to see their pain. I LOVE your "Sofie" series! This story had sad parts funny parts and everything in between. I like that you gave John a Mary Morstan and your pairing of Sarah and Lestrade. You even let the much maligned Anderson have a shining moment. Thank you for wiring and sharing this. |
Rose Sared 1/1/12 . chapter 1I think the thing I love most about your writing is the unflinching honesty. Life often sucks, your wonderful characters simply make the best of the hand dealt.
Your Sofie is the best OC I have read in years. Love your Sherlock and John and I swear you have made Lestrade a character I could read so much more about.
Thank you for the whole series - a wonderful new year present to read them all, followed the link from TV tropes - good recs there eh?
Compliments of the season and keep up the good work.

Riddle Master 101 12/14/11 . chapter 1I love this story! Sweet and sad at different moments. It's a good ending.
Are you planning on filling in any other chapters in this universe?

Sidney Sussex 12/14/11 . chapter 1Oh. The range of feelings you've produced in this is, I'm afraid, going to preclude any sort of a rational review from me. But your characters here are so insightful. Your turns of phrase so perfect. Sofie is so much older than her years. No wonder Mycroft favours her the way he does; I doubt there is another child - teenager - young woman like her in all of England. And that they are together at the end, our Baker Street duo, well... that is exactly as it should be.
Thank you for this wonderful series. |
