Very nice. It reads nicely when spoken aloud, like some sort of heroic poem.

There's a sort of quiet desperation (for lack of a better term) here that I can really appreciate, given the context - like how he didn't really expect her to answer but rushed to tell her about his fortress - but it fades after that, into a sort of acceptance, but also kind of not?
