I even logged in for this review. :) though that's partially to make sure I can follow the story :) I've really been enjoying the story so far, and I like how you've stuck to Jake and Sam's characters so well. A lot of times, it seems like characters (like Jake) who aren't very talkative suddenly become chatty. All the time. And I've been really impressed at how well you've kept to Jake's short-worded answers. That's something that's always refreshing to see, and I can imagine how hard it might be to write a character with limitations like that.
I can't wait to see what happens now that Sam's back to Riverbend. I also want to say that I like the twist of having Sam raised by her mother instead of her father. We've had a chance to see how Wyatt dealt with Sam in a serious accident, even though she didn't loose her mother at the same time of that one. And now we get to see how her mother might have dealt if the situations were reversed, and how different Sam's life could turn out. :) Great story, and I can't wait to read more.

For a secondary character, Darrell does kind of grow on you. :) And, you seem to be portraying him pretty well, from what I can remember. :)

xD This is bringing everything back. I haven't read the Phantom Stallion books in years, I don't even know if they have them in the library system where I'm at. I'll definitely have to do some looking into it. :) I hadn't been planning on reviewing until I got to the last chapter (as you can see, I was also too lazy to log in... those darn two button clicks...) but this chapter was just amazing. It had me giggling in that way I thought I'd grown out of. :) The story has been wonderful so far, and your writing flows together very smoothly. I must be off to read more now. :)
