It took me forever to get around to reading this wow.

Oh this story was lovely It made me smile and want to cry all in one. Dean was so very Dean. Well, as was Sam. Dean's parody was very clever too, I giggled much!

I can totally see this happening - after Sam managed to pull himself into a Christmas spirit for Dean, he'd crash once Dean was asleep.

Poor guy.

I just loved Dean jostling him into a snowman building contest, and then building a seriously awesome snowman. And as always, their conversation was hilarious (plus, what's not to love about Dean's Dr Seuss knowledge!).

What a story! A lovely piece, true to the brothers, and so appropriate for the holiday season!

Fave parts:

"So this was Christmas…And what had Sam done?"

...Love the reference to the song!

"The twisted string had taken him well over forty minutes of his prep time to unravel- a huge pain in the ass. But he'd pulled Christmas off. And wouldn't Martha Stewart be proud."

..This line made me laugh out loud! Hilariously Sam. :)

"...and their presents were merely the wishes of others – Sam frowned – or stolen from others as his brother had done more than a few times."

...Aww, so sad, but at the same time, a tint of humor because we all know that that is EXACTLY what Dean did.

"Sam could hear every second of the ticking clock, and now as Dean's time neared he swore he could hear every nail driving into his brother's coffin and sealing the lid shut."

...This line and the lines that follow, with Sam's thoughts and fears about Sam going to hell...GUH. It's all so heartbreaking and true, and the way you write it puts me right there with Sammy, feeling his pain and heartache. Painful perfection.

"Sam's eyes were fixed off in the distance. Everything was painted white and blank and bland and empty. Just like his life would be if Dean was gone."

...Oh, Sammy...this part was stunning.

So many other wonderful parts, too...Drunk Santa, making snowmen...The 'get your Christmas shit straight' exchange between Sam and Dean especially amused me.

Flawless, I swear it. It's like you're HEARING they're voices whisper in your ear as you write...

Excellent work, thank you for writing and sharing! :D

Very fun and Sammy Angsty at the same time. And running from drunk dirty Santa just tops it off.

Applauds you! Angsty, hurtful, but with a humouress end.

Lovely! I particularly enjoyed the 'Bad Santa' reference. One of my favourite films.

Merry Christmas to you and your family. And wishing you a Happy New Year.

Love

Wondeful christmas story! "This was war." Yeah! I'd love to have some snow myself to build a snowman. :) Sammy as a grinch, funny! And the drunk Santa was priceless. Lovely, hilarious, emotional, sad and just perfect. Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year!

Loved this Karen, and perfect that the two opening lines were a variation on John Lennon's Merry Christmas (War is Over). Could so imagine Sam being like that, knowing it was Dean's last Christmas before going to hell, his emotions taking over and not allowing him to really enjoy the holiday. Gotta love Dean though, doing his best to have a good time and cheer Sammy up.

Hope you and yours had a great Christmas Karen and have a Happy New Year :)

Opening with a twist to the classic John Lennon song? GUH. Loved that!

And loved this story! Definitely worth all the time and hard work you put into getting it ready. ;)

Always a welcome surprise when I see your name in my alert box. Thanks for sharing your Christmas story with us, though I'll admit a little rough on the emotions.

I got depressed as Sam thought about Dean going to hell. I did like the scene of the brothers building snowmen and joking around, but then Sam started thinking about Dean dying again. 'For a while Dean had gotten hell to stop running through his mind. But the moment he walked away hell rushed back...'

Definitely a creepy Santa at the end and I'm glad he didn't cause any trouble for the brothers.

I hope you have a Merry Christmas and wonderful New Year.

Until next time, take care and thanks again for sharing your stories with us.

Dean must have read Sam a lot of Dr. Seuss when he was small!

Awesome sauce! Just the right mix of humor and angst to quench my Winchester Christmas needs. These boys are just lovely and Sam is a grinch. ;)
