Firstly, I could see the "party like" image in Fiona's condo with the way you explained it, remembering back in Love Lockdown when Declan threw the party there. I could SO see Bianca slipping alcohol into the punch, I laughed so hard at that part.
"Penny for your thoughts?" would be such an Eli introduction post DTW, when he's all drugged up, and in his more of a NTR state of mind. It's very calm, vague, and monotone. The fact that after all that the two went through, they were still able to hold a civil, meaningful conversation really says a lot about how little Clare has changed when it comes to Eli. Maybe if she had spoken to him more in NON, their problems together could've possibly been dissolved. I mean, she did help him with his problems before the bipolar diagnosis... If Clare knowing that he was on the wrong medicine would mean that he would probably take a new one, just in her favour.
How Eli brings up her and the parties so casually really surprised me. In most of Eli/Clare post DTW fics, Clare is wretched, and Eli is snappy and they want nothing to do with each other, which is not 'textbook' correct. Though Clare wanted Eli out of her business, she was not particularly mad at him in any way (not until the misunderstanding with the play, which was quickly forgiven when he said 'she is the hero') she wanted to help. Because he was so calm saying this, it made her feel okay to tell him why.
One of the things that pissed me off (you wrote it beautifully, just the situation), is when Clare is totally hypocritical to Eli, and she doesn't even notice, even after Eli makes the comment. The fact that she says, "you know?" and doesn't even think twice...
Mature-er Eli ftw! The fact that HE was able to give HER that speech really means that the roles have changed. Eli gave Clare advice in the boiling point, but in the second half when his issues REALLY unfolded? Clare was giving him all of the help and advice. So, this shows he is really in a good place.
Her apology...phenominal. That is all I need to say.
THE ENDING. Holy CRAP. The way you did this was truly remarkable to me. How you captured everything that would probably be happening, not just Eli and Clare... I absolutely loved it. Personally, I could so picture those. When she said 'Eli.' and he looked to her, leaning in and they kissed at one? Fireworks went off (literally). I dont know, I just think this was like a legendary moment in my POV.
