I love these what-were-they-thinking glimpses, it adds much to the scene when I go back and watch. I especially like the paragraph about how Max underestimated Logan -- she was alive that night only because of him. Really gets to the heart of why they're so good together and for each other.

A note: I really hope Max didn't rub heat cream into her skinned-up shoulder...just thinking about that made me wince. =)

You know what, though? I really want to see what happens next... your best writing - well, most enjoyable for me - is in pieces like 'Fallen Birdman' where you create a scene for us that we haven't seen before. I think you have more freedom to be more expressive, more creative maybe. So maybe could we get another chapter of this? Does Max just go home? Do they talk more in-depth about Bruno or the Reds? Lots of room to create stuff in the lull between Red and Art Attack.

Wonderful rendition of the trust issue Max has with the rest of the world and how gradually she has let Logan in. Keeping the truth about Anselmo from him is just so sweet. She finally realizes that she is stronger with him, her "cavalry". Great stuff. Certainly hope you're continuing this and make it looooooong for our enjoyment. Please? Thanks for sharing.
