Ah, such a good little snippet. Wonderful job here.

I like not only the thoughts and the conclusion, but how to managed to get Alec's thinking. The jumbled way he goes about it here, it feels like the Alec we knew. Someone who's apparently easily distracted, someone who'd go on a tangent, but yet gets where he wants to go, because all of that is part of the way he thinks, the way he is. So of course, it's the way he gets where he wants to go.

I loved this, I do wish it was more but I do understand your ending it here and just giving us a glance into what you think Alec was thinking but that being said this would have made a wonderful multi-chapter story. If you ever decieded sometime in the future to go with it I would totally stand in line to read it. But if not it was a wonderful on piece.

It's very insightful. It's rare for people to right Alec's POV on that scene, and you did it so well. I particularily love your last two lines...:

"You don’t know how much easier this makes it for me, because I never could have competed with that guy. But you, you’re another story entirely.

And you dealt a low blow, but me—I was made to fight dirty."

Also, I completly agree with "And the guy I thought you were doesn’t even exist; he’s just a figment of my imagination". nobody's that good. It's the sad truth, but there it is.

this story does not make that much sense. and its like you said - there was no max/alex pairing - that's because there never was even a hint of it in the show -so i'll guess you will just have to stick to your fanfics
