This was so beautifully written! The imagery you've presented is great, and completely believable. I love the thought of a cheeky Arthur interrupting Gwen while she works, but keeps his hand by her stitches all the same. It's such a heart-felt gesture!

I really enjoyed this little piece. The imagery...the sadness and poignancy of it - I love Gwen and i think you captured her feelings here really nicely while keeping the humour and undertones of Arthur's true feelings in the final sentence. Thanks!

This is a really sweet story, it certainly made me smile. There were a few awkward turns of phrase, "smile that swallowed his eyes" for example, and the title could do with being capitalised, but it has a charm which makes up for it.

I particularly liked the ending paragraph, and there is some lovely imagery in here, for example:

"She seized her thoughts, made them stones in the river of her mind."

I feel you could easily cut the sentence before it. The simplicity of this line alone would have more potency than the two together.
