I read this story many years ago, shortly after finishing the last book. This story was very touching for me back then and I've never forgotten it. Tonight, I got hit by nostalgia and wanted to read it again. I looked through the old archives without knowing the title, but I remembered when I saw it.

When I read the story, it made me cry. Again. Thank you for writing this.

I had shivers going up my spine by that last sentence. It was a beautiful last paragraph, by the way. Beautiful fic too. It made me cry in some parts... just... deep.

I apologize for not reading your story earlier, I only just read your review for my HDM fic today. But this one is so much better than mine! It's so sad! :'(

I like the part about Will *knowing* that Lyra had died...it was a nice touch. Especially the last line, about the Dust. The whole fic has little things in it that just make the fic sparkle. May I use a metaphor? It's like a Christmas ornament, that in itself is already very pretty, but has just those little hints of glitter and shine in it here and there when you look at it closely.

So sad...it's going in my favorite stories for sure. It's so rare to find a truly lovely HDM fic that captures the series' tone perfectly.

That was a wonderful fic. I loved the conclusion: "And quite far away, sunlight reflected off of the river where, in another world and another era, a young Lyra Belaqua had stolen a gyptian boat and sailed almost as far as Abingdon; ripples shivered the light up into a thousand tiny particles, creating, as some would have it, the illusion of Dust." Wow. Also, I'm very glad this wasn't sappy-ness to the stars, and that in it Will and Lyra led normal lives. (Not, "He was so grief-stricken, he was confined to a bed and could not speak of anything." :D)Keep up the great work!
