Well done :-)

The title captured my attention and it was then I knew this would be a beautifully written story! I'm familiar with your stories and enjoyed reading them all - this is no exception. If anything, this is a highlight to your collection.

Your style in writing emotions through the use of vivid imagery has captured the very essences of grief in a most realistic way.

It was an added bonus to read about Danny's background from the moment he was nearly ten years old to the time he graduated from the Police Academy. You have given his character life and provided readers with the very foundations of his relationship with his Aunt Clara.

I am also curious if you ever thought of writing a follow up - Danny's injuries has me curious to find out what happened to him.

I thank you for writing this.

Great to see you write more stories :-)

This piece does a beautiful job of conveying the mood and feelings of such an occasion- full of grief, but providing some comfort to the bereaved, as well. I think the attention to detail throughout, from the evolution of air travel to the wintry setting of the service, so different from Danny’s usual home, really contributes to the impact and realism. It reminded me sharply of personal experiences in real life, but beyond that universality, it’s also a wonderful Five-O story.

I love how Danny’s relationship with his aunt is given form through his visits over the years, as the young man grows up and the nature of their interaction changes, but the importance of the bond remains. It was also so nice to see that while he might not have any family in the traditional sense to stand by him at this difficult time, his Five-O Ohana are there for him in the person of Steve.

Beautiful story that captured the essence of greif very well. Though it left me wanting more as you gave us hints of Danny backstory and injury... I am sorry for your loss I hope writing has helped you find healing.

What a beautiful, but sad story. It also made me think of my own grandmother who passed years ago - she was a big fan of Helen Hayes. I'm sorry for your loss. May you find peace and comfort. Thanks for sharing this.

What a beautiful story-your title and closing certainly capture the meaning of who Aunt Clara was for Danny-Light! Also a beautiful tribute to your grandparents.

Now for a hint-will there be a story about how Danny wound up with a broken arm and using a cane?
