Ooo, I love Nerf! Just seeing the word made my heart beat faster. Hmm, reviews are becoming a novel of their own. I'll try and cut back.

Not totally convinced about including so many song lyrics. Eventually, my eyes started to skim over them, looking for more story. Don't have an easy solution though, sorry. Maybe...just include a few lines? Or, put in more of Beckett's perception of the meaning behind the lyrics? Still enjoying enough to click "Next" though:-)

Love that last line! Hilarious. Because three women combining their efforts towards one goal is truly terrifying.

Liked Beckett's conversation with her Mom, particularly the way you gradually made it seem more like a natural conversation. Though would have enjoyed it if you'd managed to wrangle the phrase "I told you so" into the mix. Thanks, for sharing.

Just came across this story. I can't tell you how chuffed I was to finally read a story where the tables were turned and roles reversed.

I can assure you this is something that a significant part of the fandom has been dying to see on the show. Since the very beginning of the show, it has always been Castle chasing Beckett, sometimes begging, sometimes pleading and sometimes forcing his way back into her life. Every season whether it be the oremiere or the finale, it is always him having to apologize and ask her to give him another chance, even though at times it isn't even his fault. Even in S4 Rise, it was him who had to chase her after she told him she broke up with Josh and then turned away. I am not accusing Beckett per se, but the way the writers have developed the story and the characters, Beckett has been given too much control of this relationship. She has a lot of power over Castle and is able to push and pull him as per her need/desire. Castle more often than not follows her and is more than willing to compromise/accomodate to ensure she doesn't move so far ahead that he can no longer keep pace.

He has stood by her side through life and death situations, Josh, her PTSD and walls, at times even willing to sacrifice his own desires and his very being for the sake of her happiness and well being. He has even rejected the advances of other women and waited for her.

That is why it hurt when he turned to his playboy ways after 419. It really left a bad taste in the mouth seeing the writers negate all the development in his character over S3 and 4 in just 1 episode. You could argue they did it towards a larger purpose, but one could say their were other less dramatic and more rational/believable ways of achieving the same objective.

When he started moving away from Kate thereafter, the fans finally thought she would move heaven and earth to chase him now that ths stakes were too high. But surprise, she didnt. The one time he wasnt willing to hold fort, Kate didnt work hard enough to hold their relationship together or chase him and bring him back. In fact, she started having doubts about his commitment, love and support.

They finally got them together with Kate seeing the light and apologizing in the finale. But that was just the first step towards getting them on an equal footing in their relationship. The power differential needs to be balanced a little more and Kate now needs to give back what she has received from Castle over the last 2 seasons. So that they can finally be equal partners in the relationship and ensure it develops and lasts the tests of time. I hope we get to see these subtle adjustments come next season.

Onto your story. Absolutely living it. Each and every bit. I loved how Kate is making a conerted effort to be involved in every facet of Rick's life in order to be able to better understand him. Loving someone means appreciating all that encompasses them, the good and the bad. Castle has his faults, but whst Kate is trying to do is highlight and appreciate the good in him and play down/support his shortcomings. The fact that she has involved all the other people in Castle's life he considers important is wonderful. Its easy to overlook RC's insecurities and baggage given his caring, supportive, fun loving and nonchalant exterior, but he has as much baggage as Kate. And I am loving how she is beginning to understand part of the pain he felt having to stay by her side all this while, keeping his feelings and his desire in check, watching her with Josh and struggling with all her issues.

I absolutely love the strength Kate showed in the finale to take that leap and let go of her mom's murder and her job (The two things that have defined her life thus far) for Castle and the love she has for him. And we saw shades of similar strength and determination from her in the beautiful story you have put forth thus far.

Most of all, you have been able to get the right balance between angst and fun. Making the characters switch moods depending on situations is a difficult art, but you have been able to accomplish that without letting the characters go out of line, despite putting them in situations we have rarely seen on the show. (Thereby making it difficult to predict their behavior in those situations)

I am eagerly looking forward to more of the story. Hope you will update soon.
