Great. Not often I've seen a fanfic revolving around Laguna. I find his boyhood self to be realistic and endearing, I look forward to continuing with this story. :)

Pretty good chapter, but I'd prefer if you were a bit more creative and didn't rehash scenes that were in the game. :)

I guess it will be a while before he reveals where they're going :P I liked this chapter. It doesn't seem like there are many stories that give an idea of what the 'army life' was like for Laguna and co. I also liked the explanation for Laguna's choice of weapon and his feelings about it.

I'm guessing that Trepe woman is Quistis's adoptive mother?...that would explain a lot.

I kind of like the idea of Laguna wanting to get out of Esthar and go on an adventure.

And I like how you write Laguna's thought process. It really sounds like him.
