This line actually brought tears to my eyes: "He was born my secret, and I will die as his." The utter resignation in Olivia's thought, that love and happiness will pass her by (again), is awful to behold. But a tiny part of Olivia deep down knows that this is her punishment for the cruel childhood that Cole endured.
